    2. Describe your race day.

The weather was perfect! The event was well organized.

    3. Did you PR?

My goal was to complete the race. My last full marathon was in 2012 and my time was 6:10. I completed this race in 5:16.

    4. How would you describe the course?

      Nice and easy downhill.

    5. Tell us about your training.

Training on this course was important. I trained twice on this course by completing to long runs: 12 miles and 20 miles. The 12 miles was a breeze. The 20 miles was more challenging because it was extremely hot (it was 99 degrees in October). The day following the 20 miles, I was in pain (shin splints) a reminder to stretch before and after the run.

    6. What advice would you give future runners?

I would recommend that you train running downhills at least one long run. You'll get a sense of areas of your body may be in pain after the marathon. :)

    7. What fun things did you do in the area before or after the race?

After the race we took lots of pictures. I treated myself to onion rings!

    2. Describe your race day.

Extremely well organized. The busses, aid stations, bib pickup, all were great. The emergency blanket really helped at the start when it was a little cold. To have a print out of my time, place, etc. was really special. Have not seen that done at any other race.

Will recommend this race to my friends.

    3. Did you PR?

      no

    4. How would you describe the course?

Very pleasant. The up hills were not too steep or too long. The down hills were not too steep either.

Will definitely do this next year. I forgot to mention earlier, the shirt was great. I bought a matching light jacket, which I know I will be able to use again.

    2. Describe your race day.

Everything was very well organized and the volunteers were great.

    3. Did you PR?

I did not PR, but it was due to the steepness of the decline and starting way too fast.

    4. How would you describe the course?

The course was beautiful, but it was very challenging. The downhill took its toll, and the uphills were significant. The elevation chart was deceiving and I did not anticipate the uphills to be as steep as they were.

    5. Tell us about your training.

I had plenty of volume, but I would train more straight downhills. I would recommend long runs of 13+ miles of pure downhill. I have run over 40 marathons and this was a function of my quads and calves not holding up.

    6. What advice would you give future runners?

If you fly into LAX on Friday before the race, plan on 3 hours to get from airport to expo with traffic.

    2. Describe your race day.

“‘No pain, no gain’ does not mean that pain systematically equals gain. It’s easy to go hard. It’s hard to go smart.” – Erwan Le Corre

In 2014, I participated in Revel Race Series - Big Cottonwood, Rockies and Canyon City. Canyon City was on my 'must-do list' this year.

Team #KeepItMoving is in seventh place for fastest finish times for half marathon team results. There were 56 teams.

We are In third place for fastest finish times for marathon team results. There were 34 teams.

This year, it seems there were more port-o-potties and runners in Canyon City. Last year, I heard they ran out of mylar blankets, this year there were plenty to hand out in staging area.

The gear check process is simple - put your bib number (sticker) on the Revel bag and hand it off to the person inside gear truck. Claim your bag at the finisher's area. Simple.

Michael Jackson playlist kept me going and I refocused on my breathing and pacing. Because my headphones failed, I was more engaged with beautiful surroundings along the highway and people -- I should try this more often :-)

Revel's 'track a participant' seemed to perform better and nice addition was 'picture spot ahead' posters to give athletes a heads up to strike their best pose.

My tummy was happy there was FREE Marie Callendar's apple pie in finisher's area. The finisher's area was more secure than last year, meaning we couldn't go back for seconds for pie.

The main reasons I enjoy running is social aspects -- sharing our stories, diversity of athletes in race, ability, age and just being really cool, passionate people.

I'm honored to represent #RunRevel and Rose Bowl Fitness Festival as an ambassador. #RevelCanyonCity #RevelCC #RevelAzusa

    3. Did you PR?

I had planned on it. I got distracted that my bluetooth headphones weren't working to playback my banging play list and prompt for run/walk intervals. I spent more time talking and walking with other athletes than I usually do.

    4. How would you describe the course?

      Beautiful surroundings and downhill.

    5. Tell us about your training.

I had less discomfort after finishing compared to last year, thanks to workouts with Nick the trainer, The
      Camp, Body Pump and G.R.I.T.

    6. What advice would you give future runners?

Don't under-estimate the downhill, weather (wear disposable layers), SMILE, endurance altitude and SMILE. Search Groupon and LivingSocial for dining deals in the area. For next year, I am VERY EXCITED that Metro Gold Line will be dropping off at Azusa Pacific University (bus shuttle area for Revel Canyon City).

    7. What fun things did you do in the area before or after the race?

I enjoyed working with #KeepItMoving teammates at the pre-assembly expo in preparation for the second year of Revel Canyon City Marathon and Half Marathon.

At the expo, I also worked with the inaugural Rose Bowl Fitness Festival ambassadors for the February 28, 2016 event coming to Rose Bowl Stadium. Rose Bowl Fitness Festival is Revel Canyon City's race partner.

    2. Describe your race day.

Incredibly well organized from start to finish. Great volunteers. Blocked off roads and police/fire/paramedic support. Everthing you would want from a marathon experience. Beautiful course. Best marathon experience I've had.

    3. Did you PR?

Yes I did. It was my first real attempt at qualifying for Boston though. My other two marathon experiences were a feeling out process. This time I was gonna really go for it. PR'd by 14 minutes. Qualified for Boston

    4. How would you describe the course?

Course was gorgeous. Beautiful views allow your mind to wander. Nothing like running in the mountains. It was also both fun AND challenging. The downhill is fast but really wears you down, and the uphills make you dig deep

    5. Tell us about your training.

Trained to run around 7 minute/mile pace. Lots of hill sprints instead of interval training due to the course. All long run work was done on roads comparable to this course. Other runs alternated from rolling hill courses to flat work depending on how my body was feeling

    6. What advice would you give future runners?

Train for downhill!!!!! And uphill!!!! The articles you provided gave perfect training advice. I followed what they said in those articles. Wouldn't do anything differently in retrospect

    7. What fun things did you do in the area before or after the race?

Enjoyed the band and the exuberant finish venue.

    2. Describe your race day.

Bus transportation to start of 1/2 was efficient and easy. Thanks for all the port-a-potties at the start line! Route was very pretty; weather was perfect.

    3. Did you PR?

No, but I was happy with my time.

    4. How would you describe the course?

Very pretty and just the right amount of up and down hills. Loved finishing on the palm-lined street.

    5. Tell us about your training.

I should have done more hill training for this race.

    6. What advice would you give future runners?

I would recommend this race, but one of the features I appreciated was that it was not super crowded. Can we keep it a secret?

    7. What fun things did you do in the area before or after the race?

Had a good Italian dinner on Friday night.
Driving from Orange County to get to the expo on a Friday afternoon meant coming through lots of traffic, and I was disappointed at the small number of vendors at the expo. Other than that, the race was a very positive experience.
