Thank goodness for the gloves, beanie aND blankets which kept me warm after the very comfortable bus ride. Great course support, beautiful scenery, and an awesome medal. Lived it!

    3. Did you PR?

      Nope. Didn't train enough.

    4. How would you describe the course?

See above, but the uphill at the end was a killer!

    5. Tell us about your training.

Needed more miles and midweek runs buthe work was too busy. Train down and uphill.

    6. What advice would you give future runners?

Be prepared for the hills in the second half.

    7. What fun things did you do in the area before or after the race?

      None. Commuted from Sherman oaks.

    2. Describe your race day.

I love that the course is small, so that you can connect so easily with your fellow runners. The course is beautiful and a good qualifier. The organization of the race was seamless. From the shuttles to the bag check you guys did an amazing job. I also really appreciated the signs you put up throughout the course to motivate us. Finally, I enjoyed finishing in Azuza with more crowd support.

    3. Did you PR?

Yes! I qualified for Boston and got an eleven minute PR

    4. How would you describe the course?

There are certainly parts of the course that are difficult, but the overall loss of elevation is helpful and made it a more comfortable race than others I have done in the past. The curves are tough, but it was possible to still run the tangents. The scenery is beautiful and the surroundings are peaceful.

    5. Tell us about your training.

My team did training runs in Malibu that mimicked the downhill portions of the REVEL course. Then, we always did mileage after the downhill that was flat/uphill. This combination was crucial and I would recommend it to others. I also followed a high weekly mileage plan with faster runs on track night and once a month on long runs. The rest of my runs were slow. This worked well for me.

    6. What advice would you give future runners?

Layers at the starting line are crucial. Know the course and be prepared for the portions that are not downhill. Factor your race pace planning accordingly. Also, if driving from LA, go to the expo Friday morning.

    7. What fun things did you do in the area before or after the race?

We came from Santa Monica so didn't do anything before or after.

    2. Describe your race day.

Wow. From pre-race emails, to parking and CHARTERED buses, this race was top notch and seamless. As marathoners we have enough to stress about, and logistics shouldn't be one of them. Revel was impeccable and I will certainly be back next year.

    3. Did you PR?

I certainly did! Prior to Revel my only marathons have been during Ironman races and the Los Angeles Marathon. Before revel my PR was 3:25, and today I ran 3:11. I did not qualify for Boston but I was on pace until 19.5 miles. If not for my calf cramps, I would be booing a flight.

    4. How would you describe the course?

Beautiful, challenging (downhill is not as easy as one might imagine), and well stocked with fruit, electrolytes, and food.

    5. Tell us about your training.

I did a 16 week training block and ran the course twice; a 16 mile from the top and 21 miles beginning from mile 5.

    6. What advice would you give future runners?

      Practice, practice, practice.

    7. What fun things did you do in the area before or after the race?

      Nothing because i'm local.

Was just out to have fun. I did the LA marathon and ran it in 6 plus hours so I was happy with this.

    4. How would you describe the course?

The down hill made it so fun.

Had foot surgery both feet less than a year ago so I was up to 7 miles when I saw this race and said I guess I go for it since it's only a half.

    6. What advice would you give future runners?

Wear warm to start then shed as you go. Have fun with this run.

    2. Describe your race day.

It was awesome!!!!! Weather was overcast and the perfect running temperature!!!

    3. Did you PR?

yes I did!!! And won 1st in my AG!

    4. How would you describe the course?

I run about 13 half marathons a year - this is one of my favorite courses. I could not recommend it highly enough!!

    5. Tell us about your training.

I am a trained triathlete - running 13 miles is what I do for training and is not a long distance for me

    6. What advice would you give future runners?

Make sure to do a couple of 10 mile downhill runs before you do this course and if you do that - it makes it much easier to run the downhills on this course

    7. What fun things did you do in the area before or after the race?

      n/a

You can not loose choosing this race -- it is one of the most well run and well supported races around! The medals are huge and they go the extra mile to give you gloves and head warmers and space blankets so you are not cold at the start. A total first class race!
