    2. Describe your race day.

You guys really know how to do it right! Plenty of support along the way. Thanks for making it a great first Half Marathon for my daughter, Catherine Rice, bib# 4901. :)

    3. Did you PR?

I did not PR but it was in my top 2.

    4. How would you describe the course?

Beautiful course...not all down hill though as was the main piece of advertising I had heard. Hills were not too steep though, so very doable.

    5. Tell us about your training.

I am a member of the Loma Linda Lopers club, so I have been training with them. It's a great group of people!

    6. What advice would you give future runners?

It is cold at the top, but we shed our layers fast as we came down. Arrive early as getting into the parking lot was slow and congested. Lots of parking once you get off the road.

    2. Describe your race day.

The scenery was great. Downhill running is fun. I got a PR. The medal is huge. Very well-organized.

    3. Did you PR?

I did PR in the half marathon by 3 minutes which was nice :-)

    4. How would you describe the course?

The course was lovely. The camber on the mountain road was a little stressful on my calves and achilles. The was a small section where we encountered cars in both lanes that I think was a traffic control miscommunication, but otherwise traffic control was great. The aid stations were very good. The course is wide enough that it never felt too crowded.

    5. Tell us about your training.

I'm in the middle training for a full in February. I substituted my scheduled 12 mile long run with this race and am super happy I did.

    6. What advice would you give future runners?

Don't start too fast with the downhill. Once I settled in to my pace I didn't really have to push the downhill sections. There are a few uphills even with the overall elevation loss. Definitely bring layers to shed and make use of the bag check.

    7. What fun things did you do in the area before or after the race?

Before: tried to stay warm and manage bathroom and gear needs. After: listened to music and talked with new friends in the beer tent. A larger beer tent would have been nice.

    2. Describe your race day.

Very well organized from start to finished. They made sure to have plenty supplies(water, Gatorade, blankets, etc) at the start line. Music blasting to help the time pass away. The route coming down the hill was beyond beautiful.

    3. Did you PR?

Missed my PR by only a few minutes.

    4. How would you describe the course?

This course was so beautiful. Running between the walls of the canyon to viewing the water from atop of the bridges. Beautiful!!!!
Running down hill works best for me.

    5. Tell us about your training.

Training should consist of hill runs. Although the course was mostly down hill, there were a couple of hills.

    6. What advice would you give future runners?

It was cold at the top. So make sure you dress in layers and use the gloves and Mylar blanket they provide for you. If you use you phone for music note that there is no phone reception there. A lot of the course is on a slant.

    2. Describe your race day.

      everything went as expected. Great!

    3. Did you PR?

      no.

    4. How would you describe the course?

Course scenery is nice but not as easy as advertised.

    5. Tell us about your training.

      I just ran, ran ran.

    6. What advice would you give future runners?

Dress warmly at the start because you can check in your bags. Got really cold at the half start. Colder for the full.

    7. What fun things did you do in the area before or after the race?

This is my backyard race so went home at took a nap.

    2. Describe your race day.

Started cold and too early (I had to get up at 3 am to make the but by 5 am).

    3. Did you PR?

I did last year, but not this year.

    4. How would you describe the course?

UPHILL between miles 6 and 7 for the half (19 and 20 for the full). I would stop advertising it as a downhill race- that happens for us halvers only after 7.5, then quits again at about mile 10 where it gets flat. Scenery if great, that's a beautiful canyon even without much water.

    5. Tell us about your training.

I've been doing so many consecutive weekend half marathons that I really did not have to train for this one. In the month prior, I did tow other half marathons and a triathlon. I run a few miles a couple of times midweek to stay limber.

    6. What advice would you give future runners?

For the cold start, wear the warmest that will fit into the gear check bag. It will warm up on the course, but waiting for an hour or more at the start line is COLD!

    7. What fun things did you do in the area before or after the race?

Drove morning of the race from Woodland Hills (west San Fernando Valley).

SUGGESTION: You need to put up signs in the finish area that point to the parking lots. For those of us unfamiliar with the area or who are direction-challenged, knowing where the heck we parked out car would be a great help. We asked three different people (wearing the Volunteer shirts, so hopefully they would know), got two different answers. Finally, found a policeman who pointed us in the right direction.

    2. Describe your race day.

This race was cold and beautiful. The energy was great and this is by far one of the most organized runs i have participated in. I never stop to take pictures when I run but, running in the mountains while the sun is coming out got me this time. The volunteers along the way we're amazing and full of energy.

    3. Did you PR?

I shaved off a cool 33 minutes from my last race! I'm so freakin' awesome!!

    4. How would you describe the course?

The course was a bit difficult for me. There were a few inclines, and running downhill was not as easy as I thought. I'm use to running in the city (flat land) so this race took a toll on my back, hips and knees. I plan on totally doing this race again because it was beautiful...

    5. Tell us about your training.

I did not train BUT I will next time! Hills and downhill are not easy. I learned the hard way...but I learn quick. See ya next year☺

    2. Describe your race day.

One of the best organized races I've run -- great logistics, volunteers and course.Favorite memory was realizing at about mile 8 that I *could* be in PR territory and by mile 20 pouring it on to guarantee it. Definitely the most beautiful and fun course I've run.

    3. Did you PR?

Yes! By almost 10 minutes. And I'm an old guy who set the other PR six years ago...

    4. How would you describe the course?

Truth in advertising: it was indeed fast and beautiful. Awesome views, especially on the switchbacks where you could see mountains, the valleys, and runners below. This course is FAST -- I don't think it makes sense to try to run negative splits because the first half is so steep/fast.

    5. Tell us about your training.

I trained properly for Marine Corps Marathon which was two weeks ago. That was *not* a good race because the chaotic security caused many of us to start late and I lost tons of time weaving in between 5:00 runners. So I chose Canyon City as my redemption. As they say at MCM, Mission Accomplished!

    6. What advice would you give future runners?

Take advantage of the drop bags so you can dress for wide temperature differences -- 40 at the start and 80 at the finish. You BETTER train on hills or you're going to HURT! Finally, this is about the twistiest course you'll ever run, and if you care about your finish time, you MUST run the tangents. I executed this pretty well and actually logged 26.25 miles on my GPS, which is pretty good because my last downhill marathon was almost 27.5 miles.

    7. What fun things did you do in the area before or after the race?

Got in late Friday from Denver and left Saturday. But I do highly recommend the signature burger at Father's Office on the way to LAX for you post-race meal!

    2. Did you PR?

      Yes, and qualified for Boston!

    3. How would you describe the course?

      Challenging but doable.

    4. Tell us about your training.

I ran the course once up to the 20 mile marker. I think it helped knowing we're the inclines would
Be. The course felt much better on race day.

    5. What advice would you give future runners?

Run the course at least once. Make sure your quads are ready for this race. I do an outdoor woman's boot camp. Which consist of
Weights, cardio and speed training Wednesday. Hill training is a must. I usually on run Saturday and Sunday. I would suggest a couple
      More days of running.

    6. What fun things did you do in the area before or after the race?

I spent the night to save some sleeping time. I would
Have liked to spend more time after the race, but I had to check out of my hotel. That was a bummer.

Love the small capacity of runners. Your clothing prices were excellent. Compared to most other races. I didn't have my card with me to buy more stuff after the race. very sad about that. Can I buy stuff i
      On line?

    2. Describe your race day.

      Marathon #22

    3. Did you PR?

PR of 3:37.02 qualifying me for New York 2016 and Boston 2017.

    4. How would you describe the course?

I love everything about this course (even the pain). I'll be back next year!

    5. Tell us about your training.

I did 2 training runs on the course. Top half 1 month before race & bottom half 2 weeks prior to race. Before that I hiked San Gorgonio, Mt Baldy, Half Dome and Mt Whitney over the summer. I also trained on the trails since Spring to run my first Ultra Trail, Bulldog 50k. All that training gave me strong legs and the power to push myself out of my comfort zone.

    6. What advice would you give future runners?

Start strength training your legs and glutes now with hills for next years race.

    7. What fun things did you do in the area before or after the race?

Hung with my Inland Empire Running Club friends.
