    2. Describe your race day.

The weather was perfect, scenery was beautiful, the runners were so friendly, and volunteers were super nice, caring, and supportive.

    3. Did you PR?

Yes I PR by at least 15 mins.

    4. How would you describe the course?

The course was interesting and challenging, not traditional marathon typography.

    5. Tell us about your training.

I don't train. I run 4-6 miles every other day and I do a 12 mile run on Saturdays!!

    6. What advice would you give future runners?

Go out there and enjoy the atmosphere and the people. When the race is completed, you won't remember your time, you only remember the fun, the wonderful people, and the experience.

    7. What fun things did you do in the area before or after the race?

I hung around, talked to people, and had a beer!

    2. Describe your race day.

beautiful scenery, plenty of stations, love the motivation signs along the way
having my name on my bib and people cheering for me as i finished was the best
great for my first marathon experience

    3. Did you PR?

this was my first 26.2 so i hope to improve that, definitely didn't train enough for the downhill!!! killed my time i was going for because my quads and calfs were done after the half point.
i was going for 4:15 and i was 4:29...not too bad for my first 26.2 i think

    4. How would you describe the course?

Beautiful!!!! loved looking around at everything
The elevation didn't seem to bother me
the grade was brutal in some parts

    5. Tell us about your training.

i would do way more downhill training!!!!!!
i would definitely train to run faster. because this was my first i was afraid of burning out too fast so i set my pace too slow.

    6. What advice would you give future runners?

it was freezing in the beginning!! i would say pin your bib to your belt or shorts so you can easily shed clothing. the gloves and blanket provided were perfect!!!!! I tried to carb up gradually a few days before , and ate light the night before. GU's are a must for me while running

    7. What fun things did you do in the area before or after the race?

I ran this by myself! Next time i hope to find someone to run with me, i felt a little left out of the fun everyone was having in their groups. my family was at the finish line but we didn't stay long. my body was done. I live in upland, so nice and close.

    2. Describe your race day.

I am a trail runner and this was my first road marathon. I am accustomed to running with a hydration pack and carrying my own fuel, usually dates. I took a huge risk and decided 30 minutes prior to the start of the race to eat and drink off of the aid stations opposed to racing with the handheld I brought. My experience was phenomenal and I am so glad I made that decision. This event was so incredibly organized I will definitely recommend it to other racers.

    3. Did you PR?

Well, yes and no. Trail races are very different than road races. With trail we run a lot of hills, up and down. Mostly up. In addition to technical single tracks. With that said, times are not necessarily as fast. My time was a 4:33. I unfortunately had to walk the last six miles due to the pain in my left foot and the pain in my right IT band. However, that's not a bad time saying that I had to walk 6 miles.

    4. How would you describe the course?

The first portion of the course is super fast, and I was loving it. The final 13 miles tests your endurance and strength, it's rolling hills and flat at the end. Excellent combination.

    5. Tell us about your training.

Most of my training was on trail due to preference. I did a few long runs on roads that contained hills, and I biked long, fast miles for cross training.

    6. What advice would you give future runners?

Run as much up hill as possible. Run long bouts of downhill on road to condition the legs in order to avoid injury if possible.

    7. What fun things did you do in the area before or after the race?

Prior to the race the camaraderie at the trail head was energizing. It was even more energizing at the finish line. Ate a great meal at the Habit afterwards that consisted of a thick, coffee malt. Watching the other racers cross the finish was a blast.

    2. Describe your race day.

The race day was seamless as far as ease of getting there, being with my friends etc.
The biggest memory I have is running down the beautiful San Gabriel Mountains with all kinds of happy people.

    3. Did you PR?

No. I was not trying to PR. I chose to take my time and enjoy the beauty around me.

    4. How would you describe the course?

The course was downhill with ~ 3 hills to conquer. Not difficult.

    5. Tell us about your training.

I just ran a half 2 weeks ago so felt I could easily complete this. Next year, I will train more consistently on hills to PR.

    6. What advice would you give future runners?

I suggest dressing in warm clothes in the morning before the race begins. It is cold and the solar blankets help but not enough. Wear clothes you can either turn in at the beginning of the race or toss. You can wear your clothes up until 1 minute before you start. The drop off van is RIGHT there. I advise:
Sweat pants, sweat shirt with hood, hand warmers and gloves. It would really help if there were heaters at the start line and/or bonfires for the half marathon people.

    7. What fun things did you do in the area before or after the race?

This is the BEST run race I have done over the last 7 years. It was VERY organized for the runners. The bags contained gloves and a blanket. Wow. Who does that. The transportation to the race was excellent on the buses. The parking was easy. After the race, there was PIE. I mean, really, who does that? The post race food was delicious. The beer garden was crowded but efficient. No wait. Music was wonderufl. Received my time on a print out that was easy to read. I can go on and on. Do this race. In fact, travel to other states and do it. It was great.

    2. Describe your race day.

Great organization and I love the focus on people rather than profit.
So sorry your start line banner got stolen. Shame on the ones that did this.

    3. Did you PR?

I have been doing weight lifting parallel to running and I felt the difference. More strength going down on those hills.

    4. How would you describe the course?

Love it. I did the Big Cottonwood twice (Utah) and the Canyon City last year. Love running down the mountain.

    5. Tell us about your training.

Running is a way of living: I run every other day 3-5 miles.

    6. What advice would you give future runners?

Set a goal by signing up to a half or full marathon. Once you signed up, you will feel motivated and challenged to train. Don't give up!

    7. What fun things did you do in the area before or after the race?

Drove from Orange County - 50 minutes.

    2. Describe your race day.

In spite of the knee and leg pains, I finished my first full marathon. That was an awesome feeling! The fact that Revel is a mostly downhill course helped a lot. One thing that prevented me from giving this survey 5 Stars: the lady race official who kept hounding the last finishers to get in their car or the ambulance because according to her, "the race is done and there is no finish line and medals anymore". We were half a mile away, running and not walking, and she just kept warning and threatening us. We got to the finish line and there were still festivities, dj, music, and most importantly, medals waiting for us. She lied. To say the least, that's the ultimate moral crush to runners who trained and prepared for this event only to be forced to quit in the last mile/half mile of the race. Otherwise, the event was perfectly planned and executed. Kudos to the organizers for providing ample security, ambulances, watering/nutrition stations/photogs. Nice Sweeper also!!

    3. Did you PR?

It's my first full so all I was concerned about was to finish it.

    4. How would you describe the course?

The downhill helped- less effort exerted than on a flat course, of course. But runners should have proper downhill training or they risk early knee/quads/shin pain or injury.

    5. Tell us about your training.

Did fewer downslope runs than planned and that made a difference in the outcome.

    6. What advice would you give future runners?

Train downhill runs- a lot before you take this course. If they do, they'll be thankful they did.

    7. What fun things did you do in the area before or after the race?

Took a lot of pictures with our group. Did a few selfies also along the way. One of the main reason I signed up for REVEL: breath-taking views!

    2. Describe your race day.

Great experience smooth and easy when it came to getting my bib and headed to the location of the run. The end of the race was great as well with picking up my bag and all the volunteers did an awesome job. The run was challenging on the last mile as we hit that last small incline but over all I was happy with it all. Thank you and I would for sure this again

    3. Did you PR?

      Yes!

    4. How would you describe the course?

Great other than the last mile closer to the finish line the incline was challenging

    5. Tell us about your training.

I do 5 days of CrossFit and 3-4 days of Running 5-7 miles.

    6. What advice would you give future runners?

Have fun and just enjoy the view

    7. What fun things did you do in the area before or after the race?
