    2. Describe your race day.

It was awesome. I had a great time. I started out great. Hurt my knee around mile 10. But that's Ok. Had fun anyway.

    3. Did you PR?

No, I was on pace to until the knee thing.

    4. How would you describe the course?

Beautiful, I really love this course.

    5. Tell us about your training.

Didn't get in as much as I wanted to. I live in Colorado but I'm not a cold weather runner. The altitude was not a problem for me. I wish this race was in July, August or even early September. More time to train outside. It snows in Colorado until May.

    6. What advice would you give future runners?

      Train on downhills.

    7. What fun things did you do in the area before or after the race?

I live in this beautiful state.

    2. Describe your race day.

The scenery is beautiful. I was very happy with the race course.

    3. Did you PR?

No, altitude was a problem for me. I did enjoy my time.

    4. How would you describe the course?

Once again scenery was lovely. Elavation made it hard for me to maintain my pace. I'm thinking about doing the full in Canyon City, LA. This helped a lot.

    5. Tell us about your training.

Lol, what training. My husband trained and I just showed up. I registered when i got here 2 days before. I did not want to miss out on such a beautiful course. I knew I would finish.

    6. What advice would you give future runners?

Dress in layers, so you can take something off when it gets hot. Train in an oxygen starved environment so you will be use to running in this environment. Hydrate!!!!

    7. What fun things did you do in the area before or after the race?

      Sleep, lol!!!

    2. Describe your race day.

Early start to get to the bus! Even though I never conversed with any of the runners around me, we seemed to all stick together--at times in front, other times behind, but we all seemed to be in sync. Crossing the finish line is always a moment to cherish--particularly for this race coming off of two orthopedic surgeries 7 months ago, and not certain I would be able to finish.

    3. Did you PR?

No...was heading toward a PR until mile 20, and the the nausea set in. Was on pace for a 3:18 at the 19.5 mark, and then couldn't keep water or gels down, so bonked big time at the end and finished with a 3:31. Still 39 minutes ahead of what I needed for Boston....and good enough for an age group win. Helps to be old.

    4. How would you describe the course?

Beautiful, but killer on the quads. That little hill at the very end felt like Everest. I swear the mile markers at for the 10k were actually every 3 miles...or so it felt! I live in Colorado, so the altitude was not a problem.

    5. Tell us about your training.

I had run Revel in 2014, so was familiar with the course. I had ruptured my left hamstring during that race and then ruptured my right one while running Boston...I somehow finished both races, knowing I was in significant pain, but didn't realize the extent. Had surgery to reattach the right hamstring on 8/25 and had the left repair surgery on 11/3--non-weight bearing crutches for 3 1/2 months. Started training with two very atrophied legs, and a June marathon was ambitious, but I knew I would need the fast course. Ran Lookout mountain and some of the trails around Boulder...but had to train very conservatively since hamstring tendons were still healing down to the bone and I didn't want a re-rupture and third surgery. It all worked out in the end.

    6. What advice would you give future runners?

Your body is usually stronger than your mind at the 20 mile mark, so don't let your mind slow you down. Prepare for some small uphills between 13 and 16, but otherwise, enjoy the downhill. The first 11 will go quickly, and then the course levels out some....which is a bit of a relief. You will lose toenails.

    7. What fun things did you do in the area before or after the race?

Soaked my legs in the cold creek water. Came home and went for a swim. Finally found my appetite again come dinner and celebrated at a local pub. Live in Louisville, Co, so close to home.

    2. Describe your race day.

Awesome!!! From the 3am wake up call to the shuttles to the race it was all part of a beautiful day! This was the most organized race I've had the pleasure of participating in all the while earning a half marathon PR!!

    3. Did you PR?

Yes by 10 minutes - half marathon

    4. How would you describe the course?

The scenery was unbelievable....sheer cliffs and sparking river made it perfect and memorable! The race profile beforehand had me worried as it appeared there wasn't much downhill in the half but that was incorrect.

    5. Tell us about your training.

      I didn't train specifically for a downhill.

    6. What fun things did you do in the area before or after the race?

We are at Abruscci's in Wheat Ridge the night before and it was delicious. Hit up downtown Golden post race for some cold beers! We came from Longmont Colorado.

    2. Describe your race day.

The most memorable thing for me about race day was the unbelievably beautiful course and perfect weather. Throughout nearly the entire race, I found myself simply enjoying the views and the peace and quiet of the race course. I thought it would be hard not having a lot of spectators along the course, but I actually think this enhanced the experience for me. It was such an incredible race day!

    3. Did you PR?

Yes! I broke my half marathon PR by 3 minutes, and finished in 1:28. First time under 1:30 - so thrilled!!

    4. How would you describe the course?

Amazing, beautiful, and fast! The elevation grade was a comfortable downhill with enough flat or uphill portions mixed in to make it very manageable to run fast.

    5. Tell us about your training.

I live in Colorado so naturally I get a bit of uphill and downhill training. I didn't do much downhill specific training prior to this race, but this race was a training test for the full marathon at Big Cottonwood this fall. I know now that my body can handle the downhill and look forward to more training of this kind in the future!

    6. What advice would you give future runners?

I learned that you just need to let the course take you! It's the art of letting go - both physically and mentally! :)

    7. What fun things did you do in the area before or after the race?

We live in the Evergreen area, so it's home for us. Nothing out of the ordinary.

    2. Describe your race day.

Fun, beautiful, sore, entertaining, and peaceful! The most memorable part was crossing the finish line after completing the whole marathon with my friend that I've had for almost 50 years!

    3. Did you PR?

No, but I didn't train for a PR and I wasn't trying for a PR!

    4. How would you describe the course?

      Beautiful and hilly!

    5. Tell us about your training.

From Lincoln, Nebraska, so pretty flat and low altitude! My legs were/are very sore! They are not usually this sore after a long run. Train well before this race or you will pay the price!

    6. What advice would you give future runners?

Go to Colorado early if you are not use to higher altitudes!

    7. What fun things did you do in the area before or after the race?

I've been to Colorado many times so I just hung out with my friend that lives there.

    2. Describe your race day.

Everything was perfect except for the heat at the end.

    3. Did you PR?

No, I had a PR and a BQ time at the 3/4 distance but the heat was too much for me.

    4. How would you describe the course?

Excellent, beautiful scenery, nice grade, but a few unexpected hills in Evergreen

    5. Tell us about your training.

Ran a marathon and a half marathon every month from February until June, otherwise my ususal 30 miles per week.

    6. What advice would you give future runners?

      Pray for a cool front.

    7. What fun things did you do in the area before or after the race?

I traveled from Amarillo, TX. Didn't really do anything else except relax by a stream at the finish.

    2. Describe your race day.

The first 20 miles were great. Very scenic. The last 10k was a bit rough for me as my legs fatigued.

    3. Did you PR?

No PR or BQ. It was my second fastest marathon though. My PR was 15 minutes faster at your Canyon City marathon. I think some of that was due to the high altitude of this race vs. Canyon City.

    4. How would you describe the course?

I liked this actual course better than Canyon City as the slope was more gradual and spread across the entire marathon. The altitude was more difficult for me than I thought it would be. Maintaining some of the paces I was running would have not have caused my heart rate to be so high at sea level.

    5. Tell us about your training.

I would like to say I would run more uphill and downhill in my training for next time. But I live in Dallas TX and finding any hills remotely similar in grade are hours away.

    6. What advice would you give future runners?

Do a lot of hill training, if you can.

    7. What fun things did you do in the area before or after the race?

I traveled from Dallas, TX. I went to see the Colorado Rockies play the San Diego Padres. It was a blast! We also eat at some good restaurants - Breakfast in Golden before the Expo and other meals in Lower Downtown Denver. Had we brought a change of clothes, we would have eaten in Morrison. I will plan better next time.
