    2. Describe your race day.

The most memorable part of race day were the conversations I had with fellow marathoners before and after the race. Everyone has a unique story about their running and racing aspirations. Everyone I encountered felt connected to each other. The sense of community was humbling.

    3. Did you PR?

I had already qualified for Boston earlier this year, but I did set a PR by 13 minutes!

    4. How would you describe the course?

The course is deceptive and brutal down the stretch. The first half is steeper than the second half, so the last 13 miles feel like a gradual uphill (not even mentioning the heartbreaking hills on miles 12-16).

    5. Tell us about your training.

I was unable to train for downhill racing this year, so my training regimen was similar to regular marathon training. I averaged 50 miles per week, with varying speeds, terrains, shoes, and distances. I definitely paid for not doing any downhill training... I am writing this review the next day in bed. Every time I try to get up, walk, or use the stairs, my poor leg muscles scream at me.

    6. What advice would you give future runners?

Train for downhill running! Find a long, steady hill, jog up, and race down as many times as you can. For the race: keep a steady pace for the first half, and make sure you are feeling comfortable and aren't working too hard, because the tough part comes around mile 12 when the course becomes less steep and some significant hills show up. The actual race starts right then, so if you overexerted for the first half, then you will be walking...a lot.

    7. What fun things did you do in the area before or after the race?

I was staying with in-laws close to the bus pick up, so travel was not an issue. It was pretty early, so the only "fun" part about the start area was getting to know fellow runners. Best part of the finish area: beer. Oh, and of course high-fiving other finishers!

    2. Describe your race day.

The mountains were BEAUTIFUL and all of the volunteers were so positive and encouraging!

    3. Did you PR?

It was my first full marathon! My goal was to run around 4:20, I ran a 4:17!

    4. How would you describe the course?

I personally thought the first 13 miles were AWESOME! The second 13 it got a little warm and the course had more rolling hills. I live in Kansas and didn't really know what to expect with the altitude and elevation drop, I enjoyed the race!

    5. Tell us about your training.

I ran 2 half marathons throughout my training and PRd them, I wish I would have timed them a little differently and got one more long run in before the race. Again, it was my first full so I didn't really know what to expect or what to compare it to.

    6. What advice would you give future runners?

We stayed at the Sheraton and it was very convenient. They bussed us straight from the hotel to the start line, I really appreciated that! Also, the hotel restaurant had great prerace supper food. I'd say take it easy your first 13, the first half was defiantly easier than the second half. At first I thought maybe I just wasn't prepared for the full 26.2 but then I heard other people saying that the second half was more difficult also. It was chilly at the start line but the nylon blanket and gloves they gave us really helped, we finished and it was pretty warm so don't over dress!

    7. What fun things did you do in the area before or after the race?

A group of us traveled from northwest Kansas! After the race my teammates did the rapid reboot compression and ate pizza. We also shopped around a little and chatted with other runners.

    6. What advice would you give future runners?

    2. Describe your race day.

It was a beautiful course and the volunteers were plentiful and many. The aid stations where well placed. Love that i was able to defer from last year's injury. Would def in nicely recommend this race. Well done. Only hickup was our bus driver did not know how to get us to the start line and someone on the bus had to direct him.

    3. Did you PR?

      No.

    4. How would you describe the course?

Beautiful! Loved running next the the water. Grade was gentle and elevation was nothing that I had not trained for.

    5. Tell us about your training.

    6. What advice would you give future runners?

      Down hill trainong.

    7. What fun things did you do in the area before or after the race?

    2. Describe your race day.

It was a fantastic run from start to finish. The organization was wonderful. The route was gorgeous. The volunteers were awesome. After party was worth it. Only thing I didn't like was the hill right before finish. Also, have a table at expo that offers race fuel such as gel, stinger waffles, energy beans. Overall, I would definitely recommend.

    3. Did you PR?

The route was so beautiful, I was too busy admiring to PR

    4. How would you describe the course?

Breath taking. Not to hard on body. Except for the hill at the end.

    2. Describe your race day.

My last 26.2miler race was in the fall of 2014. I was having a hard time wanting to fuel properly that morning and had to force half a peanut butter gluten free bagel down (I have Celiac disease). The scenery was great and being a native to CO I had never been up squaw peak, so I'm super excited to explore this new territory! Would probably not sign up to do the full again, possibly the half but not the full.

    3. Did you PR?

Sadly No.. I tried to run with the 4:25 pacer group but around mile 6 or 7 I slowly started to drift behind.

    4. How would you describe the course?

      Challenging, downhill course.

    5. Tell us about your training.

I cross trained, lifted weights once a week focusing on unilateral over bi-lateral movement patterns, balance, mobility, ab work outs, yoga 1x a week, running uphill but not downhill. I would have done more downhill training if I had realized how steep of a grade this course actually is. I would suggest telling others to downhill train. Spend endless miles running downhill. Get some good uphill training in as well.

    6. What advice would you give future runners?

Run downhill. I highly stress this.. Train for downhill running, repeat many times. If I had prepared better I think I would have done better. I was fine mileage wise but my quads, IT bands and ankles were killing me. I wore the correct amount of clothing (shorts and a dri-fit running tee) and actually got a little warm. Was concerned about the heat once we got to Evergreen. Having a hat was key so the sun wasn't directly in my face. If you have food allergies, bring your own snacks and put in your drop bag. Beer, pizza and pie was not safe for me to eat/drink at the end. Wish there were better options for finishers to get for snacks. Thanks NOOSA yogurt for making my day by giving me extra yogurt at the end!

    7. What fun things did you do in the area before or after the race?

n/a. Native to CO. We did go out to one of our favorite pizza/wine bars close to where we live near downtown called LaLas. Also went in a swimming pool to loosen up the joints after lunch.
