This course is beautiful and fast! the weather was perfect too.
Yes! by 1:45! I got BQ also by 14 minutes.
Fast and beautiful. The turn around at mile 24? I believe was rough- into a strong headwind and uphill.
I trained for downhill on a treadmill at 3% grade. My teammates who did the half did not do any downhill training and were complaining about pain in quads @ 4 miles into their race. I thought the downhill was amazingly helpful but I trained for it.
train for downhill and then do this race if you want to BQ!
Went to old Vegas- Freemont street. Went to see the fountains at the Bellagio. Traveled from Atlanta Ga.
Great race! Just make sure the bus drivers know how to get to the start. That made me nervous.

Overall this was a great and fast course. The only issues are:1) 3:15 pacer was well behind me (I guess by minutes). This made me think I was going to finish below 3:15:00, instead I finished with 3:15:22. Please find out if 3:15 pacer really finished higher than 3:15 and why - It's not good following a pacer that doesn't finish on time! 2) The turn around segment at miles 23-24 was very hard. Also because of the wind gust, we ended up walking for some yards3) The sharp turn right before the finish was also kind of odd I enjoyed the gentle slope for most of it. Very well organized, thought kind of plain compared to a Rock & Roll with music and other entertainments.
Yes. Thank you :)
I already qualified for Boston 2018 at the past CIM w/ a 3:32min buffer. With this race, I now have almost 10min buffer.
Grade gentle downhill for most of the race. Great scenery too.
Followed standard marathon training with some downhill long runs.
Paolo,
You're not the only one who has issues with the pacers. I was counting on the 3:35 pacer and she started out at a 7:09 pace. Had I actually stuck with her I would have crashed at the end. I understanding starting out a little faster but a whole minute faster than the needed pace was ridiculous to me. So I hope they figure out this pacing thing because that's the one thing I was not happy with.
Fast course, was first in my age group, until about 21 miles, then developed quad issues ...ended up 6th, but still got a BQ.
Did get a BQ !
Liked everything about it, fast and scenic, extremely well organized.
Ran about 800 kms in training.
Quads bad at 21 miles!
Stayed at the Mt Charleston Resort , ok, handy to start.
Take a down jacket, and put it in bag check....cold and windy at pre race.
Death Valley, headed to Yosemite next.....bucket list places.
Drove down from Maple Ridge (Vancouver) BC
I found the start a little disorganized, the pacers were all bunched up together, should have been more in waves, I never did see my pacer!....that's it, my only negative of the entire race

22 minute PR
Good.
Yes
Challenging but great views
They need to start out easy. Too many went out fast and were sick along the way
Lots of Vaseline on your your toes
Gambling Tucson az
At the finish there should be chocolate milk. Busses should be there so no one has to stand and wait
Enjoyed the beautiful views coming down
The most memorable part of the race was during the last few miles when I realized that I was going to PR and qualify for Boston.
Yes, beat my old PR by 17 minutes and qualified for Boston!! Both of my friends also PR'd.
Very scenic in an old west sort of way. Nice gentle grade going downhill, although my quads and shins are killing me today.
I was on the wait list and didn't get into the marathon until one week prior. Other than my normal running, I didn't have time to train. Just taper.
Train on a downhill course?
Way too sore to do much of anything after the race, other than go out to dinner with my friends to celebrate. Came from Orange County.
Great organization. Thanks for all of your efforts.
2nd year running this course and it still my favorite race for sure! So well organized and put together and the course is beautiful and so fast! Second year running it and 2nd year PR, shaved 7 mins off from last year! I will definitely run it again and recommend it to any runner, experienced or beginning.
The best part of the race was depending the mountain as the sun was rising and seeing the beauty.
I did PR, but I had not trained for it. I was by 2 mins 56 secs. Did not BQ. I did not train to do that.
I liked the scenery at first, but I don't do well in the heat. The last part of the race was tough. I struggled with the elevation.
I had just done a marathon in hot and humid weather in Florida on March 25, so I did not have time to really train for this. Since I don't do well in heat and run better in the colder,
I decided to go out at a faster than usual pace because the sun zaps it out of me. I decided to wear a short sleeve. I would have gone with even a lighter short sleeve since I don't do well in the heat. I would have roasted in a long sleeve shirt. I forgot sun screen which was a mistake. I run with a Nathan Pack since I sweat a lot. There was a point at around mile 19 when I really needed extra Gatorade, (the wheels started to fall off), but there were only 2 volunteers and they were overwhelmed. I needed that extra boost around there.
Traveled from Pittsburgh PA. I did travel up to starting line to get a feel for the the start and the hills.
It was great. Very good service and a fun course.
Yes by 7 minutes!
Downhill and beautiful, except for the straightaway through the desert.
I would have trained more on downhill terrain if I were to do it again.
We went to Cirque de Solei that night.
I had an incredible experience except for three things. There were no oranges or electrolyte beverages at the finish, all of the mile marker signs were blown over by the wind so you couldn't see what mile you were at (need better mile markers) and most importantly, the buses were one hour late. All of our legs were sore and freezing up and we waited an hour for the buses to show up. Terrible!!!!!
Yes by almost one hour and I Boston Qualified at my first attempt.
Awesome! Except for the strong winds near Mile 22 or 23. Also I didn't like that the final miles of the course kept changing up until the race. You need to do a better job at finalizing the course before the race.
I train with the San Diego Track Club. I am also an avid vegan for 3.5 years. Just goes to show you, you don't have to harm and eat animals to be an outstanding athlete.
Run this race!
We had the best vegan burger at Red Robin after the race while wearing our long sleeve race shirts, which we loved!!!!!! Great shirts!
First experience at a Revel Race and I will run more of your races. Thanks for giving us the option to have you mail our packets to us before we arrive so we didn't have to attend the Expo. We drove from out of town and that made it less stressful. Thank you.
That is all.
