      most scenic race I've done

      No

    4. How would you describe the course?

      challenging but beautiful

I live at sea level with high humidity, so I'm heat acclimatized. But, I have limited opportunities for sustained downhill running, and of course, no experience with altitude.

    6. What advice would you give future runners?

practice running downhill to strengthen your quads

    7. What fun things did you do in the area before or after the race?

      visit downtown Golden

    2. Describe your race day.

The course. I mean, it's just gorgeous in our Colorado mountains!

    3. Did you PR?

I DID!! By 13 minutes. AND beat my goal by 4 minutes. WOOT.

    4. How would you describe the course?

The course is a winding journey through the beautiful foothills of Colorado. The scenery is classic Colorado and you can hear the water from Bear Creek the entire way down. While the descent is helpful to keep your pace, I didn't find it too steep or difficult on your body. There are some flatter portions and very gradual declines. It was perfect.

    5. Tell us about your training.

My training was focused on speed for me and those training sessions definitely helped. I could have used a few more longer runs (13-15 miles) to get me to the finish line more comfortably but life got in the way. I always tell people, no matter the race, respect the distance.

    6. What advice would you give future runners?

Bring sweats for pre-race. It's chilly while you wait for the start and your bag is big enough to hold it all.

    7. What fun things did you do in the area before or after the race?

I am local so nothing. But I wish there was more excitement and music post-race. Needs a massage tent!

Thank you to all the volunteers and for Revel for a great race. Biggest medal I've ever gotten from a race, even bigger than my 70.3 medal.

    2. Describe your race day.

Amazing! We stayed at the Hampton Inn. Everything was well organized from the start with sack breakfast. The bus to the top of Squaw Pass was comfortable and stocked with bottled water. The volunteers and Revel staff were friendly and upbeat. The course was amazingly beautiful. Aid stations were plentiful. Loved this race!

    3. Did you PR?

No. I knew I wouldn't due to some injuries during training.

    4. How would you describe the course?

The scenery was amazing. The elevation was great, the downhill got a little hard on the quads.

    5. Tell us about your training.

Followed Hal Higdon training plan, which I felt worked well for me. I mostly ran the same trail during my training because I was familiar with it. That got boring, so I will probably try to be more diverse. I still struggle with finding the best method to carry water

    6. What fun things did you do in the area before or after the race?

Spent some time in Golden with friends I'm from Denver.

    2. Describe your race day.

Beautiful course, downhill was good but not too steep. Grading of roads was toughest part

    3. Did you PR?

No, was 8 min behind my first half 3 years ago

    4. How would you describe the course?

      See above

    5. Tell us about your training.

Was the least trained for this course, went on honeymoonand didn't like g run for two weeks prior to run. Definitely would do this one again with more consistent training and could see pr ing

    6. What advice would you give future runners?

Get to shuttle way early, we almost missed the bus!

    7. What fun things did you do in the area before or after the race?

Nothing, I live in the area

    2. Describe your race day.

Ran the race with some buddies from work and we all did better than expected. Weather cooperated and was extremely thankful for the cloud cover.

    3. Did you PR?

Yes, I had only done one other 1/2 before and that was a much slower course. This course is very fast. I beat my previous time by 12 minutes.

    4. How would you describe the course?

Downhill, fast, scenic, well marked and plenty of aid stations and porta-potty's along the way. I drive the roads often that was race was on and it was really cool to be running them for this race.

    5. Tell us about your training.

Several 4-6 mile runs during the week and longer ones, up to 11+ miles, on a Saturday or Sunday with tapering the last couple weeks. I did a fair amount of challenging distance trail running which helped me the most.

    6. What advice would you give future runners?

There are a few steep downhill's in this course, how my body was going to react to that was my biggest concern. Along with uphill's, train on a few of these during training as well.

    7. What fun things did you do in the area before or after the race?

After the race, well deserved breakfast/lunch & beers on the patio at Morrison Inn.

    2. Describe your race day.

I snapped a picture of the mountains maybe 100 feet up the road from the runners village and it was stunning! Beyond that it was an incredibly well organized race that I will absolutely run again. A special thanks to Clark (didn't get his last name) who assisted me with a glasses challenge.

    3. Did you PR?

Yep!!!! PR'd by over 30 minutes. Missed a BQ by 2 minutes 10 seconds. :(

    4. How would you describe the course?

Course was beautiful in every aspect, absolutely perfect!

    5. Tell us about your training.

I ran Pittsburgh 5 weeks ago and NY in the fall so training has been ongoing. I did to a considerable amount of hill training. We live 2 minutes from Deer Creek Canyon so I trained there often.

    6. What advice would you give future runners?

      Do some downhill training!!

    7. What fun things did you do in the area before or after the race?

Ha! Cleaned the house on Saturday!

    2. Describe your race day.

The race was excellently organized from registration, to updates, to the expo, to the actual race itself and the after party. The course support was completely thorough and well designed, with plenty of aid stations, bathrooms, and gels/foods. Race day was certainly exciting.

    3. Did you PR?

I missed my PR by about 90 seconds and remained about 7 minutes shy of a BQ.

    4. How would you describe the course?

The scenery is a great mix of Colorado. As I live in Denver, the elevation in the beginning was not an issue, as the downhill running is less aerobically demanding. However, the downhill grade took a toll on my legs and they wore down significantly at the end.

    5. Tell us about your training.

I did a lot of downhill running to train, as I live in Denver, including the first 20 miles of the course three weeks ahead of time. If I were to go back, I would have run even more miles and even more downhill, as my legs still didn't hold up to the pounding all the way through the race.

    6. What advice would you give future runners?

Do not skimp on downhill training! I did a lot of downhill training, including running the first 20 miles of the course about three weeks out, and it still go the better of me. Dress for the heat in the second half of the race and power through the cold at the top.

    7. What fun things did you do in the area before or after the race?

I traveled from Denver, so it was good to sleep in my own bed the night before the race.

    2. Describe your race day.

The only con was sitting the parking lot for over an hour waiting for the race to begin. The blanket and gloves you provided were MUCH appreciated!!!

    3. Did you PR?

Yes!!!! Knocked 3:38 off my last half. Will be running the full next year!!

    4. How would you describe the course?

Beautiful, amazing, and the best course I've run! I was nervous about it being a downhill run but it was a nice mixture of flat, small uphill, and downhill. I would recommend this race to anyone!

    5. Tell us about your training.

I'm currently training for a full marathon. I thought this would be a nice race to add to my training. I was not disappointed.

    6. What advice would you give future runners?

Wear plenty of clothes that you can shed before the race. Don't stress too much about the fact that this race is a downhill run. It's very gradual until the last 3 miles or so.

    7. What fun things did you do in the area before or after the race?

Ate at a diner near the finish line. Cows cup?? Delicious breakfast and coffee!
      I traveled from Fort Collins.
