    2. Describe your race day.

Great day - great course - great logistics. I was one of the "bus casualties" from last year and was so happy to be able to participate this year. You put on a great event! The blankets at the beginning were wonderful and made a huge difference. I was there fairly early but with the blanket and hanging out with friends, the time went by quickly.

    3. Did you PR?

I PR'd for life in my 30s and 40s. I keep that as a separate stat since I ran a bunch in San Diego in my 20s!

    4. How would you describe the course?

Totally enjoyed it. The rolling hills at the beginning of the half were tough and I probably should have paced myself better but I always say that at the beginning of a race! In looking at my splits and the elevation loss, there was a direct correlation.

    5. Tell us about your training.

I ran downhill a few times when I could. The ramp at Red Rocks Amphitheater is good for some downhill repeats.

    6. What advice would you give future runners?

      Enjoy the race!

One recommendation for the event coordinators - either upgrade the quality of the gear bags a bit or have a roll of duct tape at the drop-off. Mine as well as several others I noticed were starting to split along one seam.

    7. What fun things did you do in the area before or after the race?

I live in Lakewood so it was an easy commute!

    2. Describe your race day.

I live in Evergreen, so doing a local race is always fun. This was my second REVEL Rockies race. Today's race was a beautiful day with perfect weather, and even though the scenery is familiar to me, it was beautiful as always.

    3. Did you PR?

      No :(

    4. How would you describe the course?

Being from Evergreen, the scenery and altitude were familiar to me, which was a plus and a minus. The grade is not as steep as expected. It starts off with some nice rolling, fast hills, flattens out significantly in the middle (miles5-10), then steepens again for the 5K finish.

    5. Tell us about your training.

I didn't really train; thus no PR -- and VERY painful quads.

    6. What advice would you give future runners?

Don't assume that because it's downhill it's an easy race or an automatic PR. Be prepared for extreme temps (cold and hot), be well hydrated (altitude and dry air), and really work on downhill training, including strength training on the quads, calves, and glutes. This time of year, most mornings are cool and clear, heating up significantly later in the morning. For post race protein and beer fix, visit The Little Bear in Evergreen on Main Street. For more a more sophisticated lunch with wine, check out Creekside Cellars across the street.

    7. What fun things did you do in the area before or after the race?

I live here, so nothing special.

    2. Describe your race day.

The race expo was not good
The race this morning went smooth
The hills were tough for the half marathon
The hill at the end to get to the finish line sucked!
      The after party was okay

    3. Did you PR?

Not today the hills got me

    4. How would you describe the course?

      Hilly

    5. What advice would you give future runners?

Train for hills as well it is NOT all down hill

    6. What fun things did you do in the area before or after the race?

      Hiked in the Rocky Mnt
      Hiked the 7 falls
      Saw the Garden of God's
      Saw the Red Rock Amphitheater

    2. Describe your race day.

Each mile point put a smile on my face because I was in such a beautiful place and still feeling so great!

    3. Did you PR?

Yes! (It was my first half)

    4. How would you describe the course?

Excellent! Well mapped out to be off the main roads, beautiful scenery (the water throughout most of the course was wonderful) and just enough up and downhill to make start to finish really enjoyable.

    5. Tell us about your training.

Training was so-so...I would have cross trained better to strengthen muscles that made for a painful training experience and been more intentional about stretching.

    6. What fun things did you do in the area before or after the race?

From Denver. Pictures, SWAG, rested and chatted with friends in the shade of the park. Beautiful finish area!

    2. Describe your race day.

Organization was great. Loved the downhill course next to the river.

    3. Did you PR?

      Yes by almost 2 minutes.

    4. How would you describe the course?

Winding downhill with the river in sight much of the race. Early uphill was good to not go out too fast, no extreme downhills.

    5. Tell us about your training.

Very happy with training, focused on some downhill running to be ready.

    6. What advice would you give future runners?

Do some downhill training, tie your shoes tight to be ready for all the downhills, dress warm for the wait in Evergreen!

    7. What fun things did you do in the area before or after the race?

Bluegrass band was good but needed a sound system. Morrison Park was pretty but need more activities to encourage people to hang around.

Was apprehensive signing up after the fiasco last year but the race was very well organized, loved the course and will probably be back next year. Only negative was so few spectators, would be nice to have more people cheering on the runners.

    2. Describe your race day.

Good signs to the shuttles, thanks. The volunteers & police were very good, very good. I unfortunately had to play a gig the night before in Estes, so only got about two hours sleep. But that's not abnormal before a marathon. . . Would be nice if the clothing bags were a bit closer to the finish, or the same direction as the shuttles. Not enough bathrooms at the start, was very slow. Lots of folks hitting the woods before and during the early going race. Always nice to have buses with restrooms for the long ride after hydrating really well all week. I really that's expensive . . . Solve those items, the course and volunteers are four-star, so the whole race would be.

    3. Did you PR?

No, far too old for that. :)

    4. How would you describe the course?

Loved the course, though the Evergreen hills were quite tough and long. Liked the last five miles and of course the first 8 or 10 or so coming out of the high mountains. Would be nice if it was a bit earlier in the year, though being from Estes, I know the challenges that this might lead to. We have the same prob in Estes, quite often very hot day. Glad it wasn't the day before. And it's GREAT that you start at 6 AM, though it's tough to get going that early, it's worth the early start.

    5. Tell us about your training.

Hydrated well, knowing the weather would be hot. Not enough long mileage, well-trained for half, but haven't got the long miles. We do a lot of downhill running in Estes and RMNP to get ready, but more would be good. It's not just adjusting the stride, you have to do a lot of it in training.

    6. What fun things did you do in the area before or after the race?

Ate in Golden, Café 13, quite nice. Other than that, didn't have much time for it.

    3. Did you PR?

      No

    4. How would you describe the course?

Fast, gorgeous scenery. Probably 96% downhill at a good grade.

    5. Tell us about your training.

I didn't run enough during the week. We did three long downhill runs, which were helpful in determining how we would feel on race day.

    6. What advice would you give future runners?

train downhill. plan for cold start, but rapid warming.

    7. What fun things did you do in the area before or after the race?

live here. :) Rockies game after the race. Very tired!
