Great race. Got hot at mile 20-26 and the water at the water station was hot and did not help cool me down at all.

Would you please report on the amount and percent of the fees going to the causes/charities listed? We are somewhat landlocked by your race and would like to see cost benefit of the race.

    2. Describe your race day.

Running with my daughter Jami. She is my coach & mentor.

    3. Did you PR?

No much slower this year. Slow start due to so many people going up to the turn to start the run down.
Not good control at the beginning first turn.

    4. How would you describe the course?

      Beautiful as always.

    5. Tell us about your training.

Need more down hill runs. My fault just had a hard time fitting runs in.

    6. What advice would you give future runners?

Practice runs down hill. Start slow and easy.

    2. Describe your race day.

overall positive experience except for 2 disappointments....the pace group started out too fast and stayed too fast for the first half of the marathon. When the 3:40 pacer is just 30 seconds behind the 3:35 pacer, you know someone is going too fast! The second disappointment was getting turned away at the beer tent because I didn't run with my photo ID!

    3. Did you PR?

No...I should have stuck to my pace band plan instead of following the pacers....

    4. How would you describe the course?

      Beautiful and fast!

    5. Tell us about your training.

Training in S. Louisiana meant very limited hill work...had to rely on parking towers, treadmill on decline, and a few hills. Overall, I was ready. I just went out too fast.

    6. What advice would you give future runners?

Stick to your plan and do not follow the pacers...they were way off the goal pace! Also, carry your photo ID during the run - evidently Revel does not like runners to enjoy a beer after the run!

    2. Describe your race day.

nice arriving to the bus departure, good parking área, nice buses, nice drivers, arriving to the start point nice view of the mountain and a heaven full of stars (maybe a Little crowd and need some extra rest rooms), very very very fast course until mile 18, but then: up and down hills (from 19 to 23 mile); cramps on the legs, tirs and frustration, last 3 miles, again going down, and as a prize: a Boston Qualifier, a lot of pain but a big smile...

    3. Did you PR?

I didnt PR but I happily had a BQ!!!!!!!!! for 37 seconds !!!!!!!!!!!

    4. How would you describe the course?

      as I told before:
1 / 18 fast fast fast fast fast course
19 / 23 hell and back, sun! up and down hills, cramps...
24 / 26.2 down hill again, so helpful...
sorry, I didnt enjoy the scenery, I was so concentrate on the watch...

    5. Tell us about your training.

I failed 3 months ago on the mount charleston maratón, so I improve my training:
more up and down hill training, more legs workouts on the gym, better selection on my final miles play list and checking the course in my car the day before with an altimeter not to be surprised again...

    6. What advice would you give future runners?

easy to arrive to Salt Lake City, nice hotels, good restaurants to carbo load...
strategy on the race: try to win any second you could before 18 mile (you will need it in the final miles)...
weather: cold on the beginning (not so cold) and to hot the last 8 miles (real hot and sunny), cap and black lenses needed...

    7. What fun things did you do in the area before or after the race?

I enjoyed very much to drive the race course the day before the race, checking which part of the race was up or down hill etc.
after the race; to stay on the finish line and enjoy my race mates crossing the finish line meanwhile the nice gay with the microphone tells al the public who were crossing the line...
I fly from Mexico city to Salt Lake city and I celebrate my BQ on saturday night on Vegas!!!!!!!

    2. Describe your race day.

Coming from Dallas, TX I didn't know what to expect. So, the day before the race I drove up into the race area and my heart started racing with uncertainty...lol
I had a scary but exciting feeling at the same time is the best way to describe.

    3. Did you PR?

Yes!! This was my 2nd time running a marathon and I PR'd my 37 minutes! I was very proud.

    4. How would you describe the course?

      Challenging, very steep, painful 18-22.

    5. Tell us about your training.

If you don't live near steep inclines/declines then you are SOL!
Seriously, I would recommend to incorporate more strength training then you normally would do because you are going to need it!

    6. What advice would you give future runners?

If you can afford to have a few training runs on the course so that you can gauge what you are about to embark upon.

    7. What fun things did you do in the area before or after the race?

      Beer. Beer. Beer.

This was such a fun experience! It was well organized and went smoothly.

    3. Did you PR?

      Yes

    4. How would you describe the course?

      Gorgeous!!!

    5. Tell us about your training.

I didn't train for this race. I run 4-6 miles at least 4 times per week. That's all!

    6. What advice would you give future runners?

If you are ever going to run a half marathon... this is the one to RUN!

    2. Describe your race day.

Woke up very very early and then was cold till race time. The wait at the top is way too long and I wasn't prepared clotheswise. Other than that I loved the race.

    3. Did you PR?

      Yes. First half Marathon.

    4. How would you describe the course?

Beautiful but very steep till last 3 miles.

    5. Tell us about your training.

It's hard to train body to recover for downhill. I'm still in pain two days after event.

    6. What advice would you give future runners?

Try to get a big downhill in. Bring a old pair of sweat pants and sweat shirt and an old blanket plus cardboard to nap before Race.

    7. What fun things did you do in the area before or after the race?

Great lunch at White Horse in SLC then did Top Golf. We came from southern Utah.

    2. Describe your race day.

This was my first marathon, so I was really nervous. It was an incredible course though, and so beautiful! The last 10 miles were incredibly brutal, but I am probably going to do it again!

    3. Did you PR?

PR because it was my first time

    4. How would you describe the course?

The downhill grade helped me a lot. The grade was noticeably downhill, and fairly steep in some places, until around mile 17-18. Then it was still downhill but much more gradual. The scenery was gorgeous! It wasn't nearly as cold as I was expecting, and it was fun to watch the sunrise as I ran.

    2. Describe your race day.

Beautiful day! Full moon at the start, perfect temperatures and scenery, with sunshine at the finish!

    3. Did you PR?

Yes, knocked 4 minutes off my half time!

    4. How would you describe the course?

Beautiful in the canyon. Nice downhill grade, but not uncomfortably steep. Flattens out a bit at the end.

    5. Tell us about your training.

Definitely do some downhill training runs, it will help with recovery.

    6. What advice would you give future runners?

It's 20-30 degrees colder at the start. Bring an old sweatshirt/long sleeve to wear at the start & the first couple miles, then you can drop it once you warm up.

    2. Describe your race day.

It's an early start to the day (up at 3:30a), but necessary and preferred to start at a reasonable hour. Weather was perfect...low 40s at start, maybe got to 70 at finish. Even past the midway point the temps were still very cool, and for the little bit of the race in the direct sun, it was mostly at your back.

    3. Did you PR?

      YES, BQ

    4. How would you describe the course?

Beautiful views...i know many folks took issue with the 5 mi 'out and back', but I cannot complain about the first 18 mi being downhill and in the shade...the out and back was not bad, and the uphill was still no worse than what one would expect in any number of marathons. To then go downhill again at end, unless your quads were shot, was obviously another advantage/benefit (see below, to ensure how to not get shot quads).

    5. Tell us about your training.

I didn't have the time for a full cycle, so trained for 5 weeks. I did an 18 and 20 miler three and two weeks, respectively, before the race, and in each case, ran half of the long run on a treadmill "on blocks", so that it was decline. This is very necessary in my opinion (very long sustained downhill training)...the course is obviously set up to be fast, so if you get in the downhill runs, you can get away with an abbreviated cycle.

    6. What advice would you give future runners?

see above, long runs on a decline treadmill (for those without access to yuge mountains).

    7. What fun things did you do in the area before or after the race?

Park City, High West Distillery...take the tour, enjoy the drinks and food. The PC downtown area is a great place to walk around, other good options avail.
