    2. Describe your race day.

I signed up for Revel Big Cottonwood to run my first half marathon and couldn't have had a better experience! The course is incredible! You run down Big Cottonwood canyon and can't stop looking at the vast rocks, changing colors of the leaves, and even the sunrise in the sky is breathtaking! The whole race is extremely organized, these guys know what they're doing! All of the race info was very clear and communicated well, this made me feel comfortable and prepared for my race! The day of was a blast! One of the most fun things I've done! The volunteers and Revel staff were energetic and made the atmosphere so exciting! I loved how there was music at the beginning and they really took care of us with aid stations along the course!! I LOVE my medal! It's huge and makes me very proud. I felt taken care of, and had the best race ever! I would recommend this race to anyone and will definitely be signing up again next year!

    3. Did you PR?

Yes! Finished about 10 minutes earlier than I was expecting!

    4. How would you describe the course?

      GORGEOUS. So fun

    5. Tell us about your training.

I trained running down big cottonwood each Saturday and felt very prepared for the course and acclimated to the downhill terrain. The farthest I ran before the race was 9 miles and I felt prepared and strong the whole race.

    6. What advice would you give future runners?

I'm so glad I trained running downhill and trained on the course! Be prepared for the last 3 miles to be rough with a little up hill and flat stretches, and then the steepest downhill.

    7. What fun things did you do in the area before or after the race?

Loved the music at the beginning, had fun taking pictures and cheering on the other runners! I wish The wouldn't have shooed me away from the finish line as I was finishing on the other runners, but that is my only complaint. :)

    2. Describe your race day.

It was so much fun. I met a lot of people on the course.

    3. Did you PR?

      I PR'd by 22 minutes.

    4. How would you describe the course?

The scenery was beautiful. The grade was nothing I could have trained for at home. The last 10k is a heartbreaker. The hardest last 6 miles I have ever done after such a beautiful 20.

    5. Tell us about your training.

I live in Dallas and we did hill repeats but nothing is as steep as this race. Lots of squats and core work. I did track work for a 3:40 target and felt that if I hadn't I would not have gotten the 3:50. I tell people to build their legs up and work on their downhill running form.

    6. What advice would you give future runners?

Come in the day before. Dress for all seasons.

    7. What fun things did you do in the area before or after the race?

We traveled from Dallas so we went to Park City Running, met people running Wasatch 100, and just enjoyed the scenery. We really want to save sight seeing for Sun. We are all very sore and more tired than we expected so the sites might be limited.

    2. Describe your race day.

Great race, gorgeous scenery and perfect weather. Well organized.

    3. Did you PR?

No but I was running with an injury and actually hadn't run at all for 5 weeks prior to the race!

    4. How would you describe the course?

Beautiful, scenic, downhill, occasional flat parts. No issue with elevation.

    5. Tell us about your training.

Do quad and glute strength training! These were sore the next day. I wasn't able to train properly bc of my injury.

    6. What advice would you give future runners?

I wore a short sleeve shirt and roll down sleeves, but rolled the sleeves down quickly--could have done without. Carry water bc you get thirsty easily.

    7. What fun things did you do in the area before or after the race?

Visited Park city and went to Antelope Island and saw bison. Dinner at Red Iguana was great! Traveled from CT.

    2. Describe your race day.

The day was amazing. The views were unbelievable. I saw a moose part way down the hill, what an experience.

    3. Did you PR?

This was my first marathon. My goal was to take it in, have fun and finish

    4. How would you describe the course?

Quite steep in some parts, but manageable. The loop was a killer. Wedidn't care for that at all. The mountains and views were amazing

    5. Tell us about your training.

I spent a lot of time training throughout the summer. We are from upstate New York, so we had access to steep Down hills which definitely helped with this course. Doing leg lifts on the weight machine helped our quads and calves.

    6. What advice would you give future runners?

Hills, down and up ( darn that loop), weight training.
Take time to "revel" in the moment and take in the scenery during the race.
It was hotter than I anticipated, but fortunately cloud cover helped on race day to keep temps down.

    7. What fun things did you do in the area before or after the race?

We didn't explore much, this trip was really about doing our first marathon. We flew in from upstate New York.

    2. Describe your race day.

I ran a 2:52 on my first marathon try and I won my age group of 25-29 like a bad ass , I would come back to this event and BQ again , I also took 8th overall in 2017

    3. Did you PR?

Yea I did 2:52 before it was 3:30 try 38 minutes

    4. How would you describe the course?

Fun down hill and miles 4, 18-22 are hard the rest isn't

    5. Tell us about your training.

      60-100 mile weeks

    6. What advice would you give future runners?

So this event it's fun and it's fast

    7. What fun things did you do in the area before or after the race?

Drank a single beer in my hotel room and relaxed

    2. Describe your race day.

A great race... even with a lot of runners, this race is always organized and starts on time.

    3. Did you PR?

Yes! My PR was only by a couple of minutes, but I cut almost 20 minutes off my time from last year.

    4. How would you describe the course?

Very pretty... lots of downhill the first 18 miles. I don't love the out and back on Wasatch, but it's doable.

    5. Tell us about your training.

I ran down the canyon a few times to get ready for the downhill and also did a couple of downhill races.

    6. What advice would you give future runners?

    2. Describe your race day.

Very nice sitting at the top of the mountain talking to the out of town runners. I was telling them how beautiful the mountains are.

    3. Did you PR?

      No

    4. How would you describe the course?

The course was pretty in the mountain area. My personal opinion is that people from out of town are not seeing the best of Utah. Once you hit mile 18 it is flat and ugly as you run past piles of dirt. Also running down the main highway is not cool. I would not recommend this race based on the dirt and highway. The rest of the course is pretty.

    5. Tell us about your training.

Followed a 3 month training course

    6. What advice would you give future runners?

I would say this is not a race they want to run based on the dirt piles and running down a busy highway. Yuck

    7. What fun things did you do in the area before or after the race?

      Just chatted with friends

    2. Describe your race day.

As always I'm amazed by the collaboration of the volunteers, police, family, friends, organizers, bus drivers, photographers etc etc etc to make this run the best in Utah. I get to run this race with my kids and we will make this a yearly event for as long as we are able

    3. Did you PR?

No, but we were more interested enjoying the beauty of the route and enjoying each other's company

    4. How would you describe the course?

Magnficient. The beauty is like non other. This year the half had a new start which was odd, but once that was done it was perfect.

    5. Tell us about your training.

      Longest run was 8 miles.

    6. What advice would you give future runners?

Layer. If you don't want to tie a jacket or long sleeve around your waste when it warms up, wear something old and drop it.
I swear by Hoka shoes. The last 2 years I wore them and I don't have any hip pain, knee or ankle pain. They are ugly, but I love them!

    7. What fun things did you do in the area before or after the race?

We stayed at Solitude Resort- enjoyed the mountain beauty
      Came from Farmington Utah

    2. Describe your race day.

Absolutely beautiful course. Love being able to run down that gorgeous canyon. And the race as a whole was so well organized and I've never seen such helpful people at first aid stations. They truly care about every one of the runners. So happy I did this run and I plan on doing it again!!

    3. Did you PR?

I did not but I also haven't been training as well as I hoped. I did finish faster than I thought I would

    4. How would you describe the course?

Beautiful. Breathtaking. Instead of focusing on the road I was able to look up and admire the mountains

    5. Tell us about your training.

I have always trained for each race about 12 weeks out but life got in the way of this race. Was supposed to be my first full but decided to to the half instead. Almost all of my training consisted of down hill training but I could have done more

    6. What advice would you give future runners?

Train. Train. Train. Running down hill is a totally different technique

    2. Describe your race day.

This is by far the most organized race out there. I love this race every time. It is beautiful! The free pictures, text alerts & the great finish line events are a great bonus.

    3. Did you PR?

Not this time but I didn't train much.

    4. How would you describe the course?

Beautiful run down my favorite Canyon.

    5. Tell us about your training.

I was a slacker with my training due to a crazy summer but I still finished.

    6. What advice would you give future runners?

Training always makes races more fun.
