    2. Describe your race day.

Race day could have been better. Nothing like warm water and gatorade when you get to the aid stations. How hard is it to keep fresh ice on hand for the aid stations. Nothing like having to look in each cup to see if its water or power aid...how hard would be it to have two different colored cups? or have water in the front and power aid in the back. I dont want to slow down and look in the cups each time...I want to run and grab a drink in stride. Are you guys supporting all the runners?? or just the first 500 across the finish line. Pizza was gone, massages were gone. Surprised you ordered enough finishers medals at that rate. I was impressed that they had "Picture ahead" signs. That is good attention to detail. I wish the Aid Stations had at least a basic mileage marker, if not a big fancy once. Its always nice to know where you are. Not everyone has a GPS watch.

Other than it was pretty good.

    2. Describe your race day.

Flawless race execution. This was my first marathon and was an amazing experience!

    3. Did you PR?

Yes, first marathon so automatic PR

    4. How would you describe the course?

Watching the sun rise at the start was amazing. Beautiful scenery down the canyon. The out and back on Wasatch was tough due to the heat and the exhaust from cars on Fort Union was not pleasant

    5. Tell us about your training.

I did three long runs down the canyon during my training and the timp half marathon a month before which was great preparation.

    6. What advice would you give future runners?

      Train long downhills!

    2. Describe your race day.

This was one of the most supported races I have ever done! I loved that you gave us mylar blankets and gloves for our wait before the race, and that we had an entire lane closed off for our whole run down the canyon, and there were police absolutely everywhere! I felt safe and protected from traffic all day.

    3. Did you PR?

No, because the last 8 miles were really hot, and hilly :(

    4. How would you describe the course?

I loved the run down the canyon very much. I did stop to take several pictures :) I hated the course after the canyon, it was ugly, running along a highway, too hilly for that far into a marathon, and hot with no shade :( Would have liked to have stayed longer in the canyon, couldn't we have started farther in? Not sure if we were already at the top?

    5. Tell us about your training.

I guess I thought of it as a downhill race, so I didn't train with uphill, which I should have. The race advice was all about running down :(

    6. What advice would you give future runners?

I loved staying at the Homewood Suites, they were very friendly and helpful, and so close to the start/finish. Make sure you have sweats for the hour plus wait at the top.

    7. What fun things did you do in the area before or after the race?

I came from Colorado, the race was my "fun thing" :)

    2. Describe your race day.

My plan was to do 8 minute miles the whole way but after the first mile I came in at 7 minutes and continued at that pace the rest of the way. One of my most favorite race experience out of 100 races plus.

    3. Did you PR?

I had my fastest time in years, I qualified for New York Marathon running the half.

    4. How would you describe the course?

      Course was awesome.

    5. Tell us about your training.

2 canyon runs, run 30 miles a week, do a lot of cross training with biking and swimming

    6. What advice would you give future runners?

Do this RUN! I WILL BE BACK NEXT YEAR.

    7. What fun things did you do in the area before or after the race?

went home and did yard work and attended concert in Sandy that night.

    2. Describe your race day.

This race was very organized. Had great volunteers. Drink/aid stations were perfect. The course was beautiful. My favorite was the cold wet towel at the end (so needed!) and the diet coke! The swag in the bags was great too. Loved the gloves and blanket.

    3. Did you PR?

User a PR in the half marathon by a full 8 minutes!

    4. How would you describe the course?

Loved the course. Some of those down hills were tough but I loved having the descent at the end of race as well when I was tired.

    5. Tell us about your training.

I didn't do much training for this race- signed up last minute. But I run or walk most days.

    6. What advice would you give future runners?

Dress warm for the start. Practice on some down hills!

    7. What fun things did you do in the area before or after the race?

I live here in Salt Lake City so no travel for me.

    2. Describe your race day.

It was a great day! Everything seemed really organized and well put together. Parking was easy, bus lines moved quickly, starting line was a little tight. Race was fast and beautiful. Finish was also well organized.

My only complaint was they ran out of chocolate milk before I finished (and I was one of the first 100). I was counting on that so I didn't bring my own and there was no other recovery drinks (powerade, warm soda and water were the only options).

The medical personnel were great, the live music was fun and the location was perfect!

    3. Did you PR?

I got my PR by about 11 minutes. I also qualified for Boston.

    4. How would you describe the course?

Beautiful winding course through Big Cottonwood canyon. A little steep in some areas, but a nice downward grade. The out and back part of the race was really tough and quite demoralizing. I really had to a gut check to maintain PR pace through that. I'd like to see if there's a way to change that for next year.

    5. Tell us about your training.

I ran down a few of the canyons in Utah, including Big Cottonwood for my training. You've got to train on downhill to be ready for downhill.

    6. What advice would you give future runners?

My only mistake was the type of socks I wore. I blistered really badly (to the point of bleeding and having to stop at the medical tent). I wore a warm jacket up until the race started and then ditched it right when the race started. It was probably warmer than usual so that may not work for everyone.

    2. Describe your race day.

This was was great! It was my second marathon. My first was two years ago where I was thankful to make it to the finish line in 5:30. I said I'd never run another marathon. I finished in 3:49 yesterday! I couldn't believe this course helped me cut 101 minutes off my PR! The course was beautiful and the volunteeres were great. I'm glad there were aid stations every 2 miles, definitely helped me keep hydrated at a higher altitude. The pacers were great! I ran either the 4 hour and 3:55 groups and they were so motivating. I was starting to hit a wall during miles 22-23 and the 3:55 pacers were so motivating :) they encouraged me to keep going and make it to the finish line ahead of them.

    3. Did you PR?

Yes! Dropped 101 minutes off my race! Didn't qualify for Boston, but I'm planning to come back next year and give it a shot!

    4. How would you describe the course?

18 miles in the canyon with georgeous views! I've run a half in the Rocky and Teton Mountains, but this race was definitely one of the prettiest courses I've run.

    5. Tell us about your training.

I only averaged 33 miles per week during my 15 week training plan. During long runs (18-22) I just focused on getting through the miles and didn't worry about going quickly. I also did some cross training - road cycling and hiking. I think the cross training and low mileage helped me to stay unhurt during my training.

    6. What advice would you give future runners?

Bring a coat! I lucked out since it was warm this year, but next year I'll definitely back my puffy to wear before the race.

    7. What fun things did you do in the area before or after the race?

I drove down mirror lake scenic bi way Friday and it was so pretty! Great way to see the beautiful scenery in Utah without tiring out my legs before race day.

    4. How would you describe the course?

It was good...until the out and back at mile18. It was not a good part of the race at all. If the part of the douse was eliminated it would be great..Everyone I talked to felt the same

    6. What advice would you give future runners?

      train on the downhills

    2. Describe your race day.

Gorgeous view of the canyon. Would redo it just for that.

    3. Did you PR?

It was my first full marathon

    4. How would you describe the course?

Elevation was good until we hit mile 20 with the turn around on Wasatch Blvd. The finish downhill to the finish line was awesome. Although the car traffic with car exhaust was a little harder to deal with

    5. Tell us about your training.

I should have trained downhill and uphill more

    6. What advice would you give future runners?

Enjoy the canyon. No music needed in there.

    7. What fun things did you do in the area before or after the race?

    2. Describe your race day.

Enjoyed view from Stars in the sky , Rocks, Canyon, Water falls.
I started with PL. But right after started, it was hard to follow them because it was too fast to start.
My body wasn't warmed up yet since waiting for long as cold.
I was very appreciated the extra blanket was given at waiting area. But I'm usually slow starter for 1 st 3 miles until my body/legal are warmed up. It was too fast begin with. I could finish 1 minuets later than the pace at the end without PL though.

    3. Did you PR?

It wasn't my PR but I'm qualified for Boston.

    4. How would you describe the course?

It was hard & steep more than I expected.
From 19 to 24 miles were hardest.
Legs were dead already at that time and couldn't see the turning point.

    5. Tell us about your training.

I did hill training as 5 x 1 mile downhill once a week on Sunday.
LSD 20. 22 miles in July & August
Every Saturday, tempo & build up training.
Every Tsusday, interval training @ gym
      Weight training

    6. What advice would you give future runners?

Prepare for warm clothes @ starting area.
      Need super downhill training.
Check well the access from airport to expo, expo to hotel before coming.

    7. What fun things did you do in the area before or after the race?

Thank you for all volunteers, they were so nice, friendly. Water station were located just right.
Blancket & gloves given, these are not happened other races. It so much helped even though I was prepared for those. At the finishing line, cold towels were heaven. Chairs were also big help to heal down muscles. I left the finishing area soon after I finished to hotel. I'm coming from Los Angeles, CA
