    2. Describe your race day.

The buses were great and got us up there on time. Starting was well organized. Though there were not enough aid stations. on a hot day, I needed more fluids. The out and back section was terrible. That was by far the hardest course I've ever ran.

    3. Did you PR?

Nope. Got the worst marathon time I've ever gotten.

    4. How would you describe the course?

Scenery was great. That course beat up my legs way too much. I almost didn't finish. The out and back was the worst thing I've ever ran.

    5. Tell us about your training.

I trIned on the course almost every weekend and ran great on it.

    2. Describe your race day.

My biggest mistake was pre-race in that the forecast was for temperatures at the beginning in the 50s. This was perfect for running, not so much for waiting to start and I didn't bring enough warm clothing. Doing a warmup run in the dark, with traffic still on the highway was a bit scary. I think the hardest part of the race was the last 5k because my legs were pretty exhausted. One suggestion: starting waves based on pace. The most frustrating, and slowest, mile was the first because of trying to navigate through so many slower runners. Great race overall.

    3. Did you PR?

I originally signed up the the full as my 3rd attempt at a BQ this year. I qualified in May so went down to the half at this race. I had a 7 minute PR in my half marathon yesterday and came in 8th my division!

    4. How would you describe the course?

The course was beautiful! We drove it the day before so I was able to enjoy it twice. The steep grade made for interesting running...my coach had said "don't go too fast." How do you not go too fast with that grade?

    5. Tell us about your training.

I trained on hills near my home, and ran a downhill marathon in May, but still wasn't prepared for the grade. Because I do regular strength training my quads were fine during the race. I discovered that below the knee wasn't nearly as strong and so I'd suggest more strength and endurance to build calves and shins.

    6. What advice would you give future runners?

Since you have a drop bag, take advantage of it and bring warm clothing even if you don't think you'll need it.

    7. What fun things did you do in the area before or after the race?

We came from Oxnard, CA (coast, north of Los Angeles) stayed in Park City for a few days making it a nice weekend.

    2. Describe your race day.

Running with my "sole" sister for the 3rd time at this race was my favorite!

    3. Did you PR?

No. I was 4 minutes away.

    4. How would you describe the course?

The start was horrible. Trying to have 3000 people start on one side of the road at the same time was not cool. My first mile was slower than I ever trained for-probably should change that next year.

    5. Tell us about your training.

      My training was great.

Organized and well put together. Thanks revel!

    3. Did you PR?

No but felt extremely fast and was kicking myself for not figuring out where to train downhill. My brother had a treadmill with decline and he set a PR of15 minutes!

    4. How would you describe the course?

Just as this site did, fast and gorgeous

    5. Tell us about your training.

      Speed training on flat terrain

    6. What advice would you give future runners?

Make sure you book hotel close to finish not the start. Train for decline

    2. Describe your race day.

This was my first time doing this race and I loved it! From bib pick up to the day of the race. It was a perfect experience. The race route was breathtaking! I would tell anyone to do this race! The view was like nothing I've seen before.

    3. Did you PR?

Unfortunately, I did not PR. I thought I would because of the terrain, but I didn't train for downhill runs. I'll do better next time.

    4. How would you describe the course?

The course was perfect! The volunteers were phenomenal! I actually liked the fact that there were no spectators while on the mountain and just the runners. Again, I couldn't ask for a more beautiful view for running!

    5. Tell us about your training.

I should have practiced downhill training more and done more strength training exercises! I will work on that next time. By mile 9 my legs gave out on me and all I could do was walk. :o (

    6. What advice would you give future runners?

Stay close to the finish line! That made my experience better. Prepare to dress for a cold start but a hot finish! LOL Layer up! Revel did a great job by providing the warming blanket.

    7. What fun things did you do in the area before or after the race?

We got into SLC two days before the race. So we did a lot of sight seeing of downtown. I traveled from MD to do the race and this was a great opportunity to travel to Utah AND run! It was my "runcation"! And I would do this race and the Revel series again! Well organized! Revel ROCKS!!!!

This was an overall great experience! I can't wait to do it again. I love that the series is available in several states, since I'm attempting to do a half in all 50 states. Thanks for a great experience! If I could give this race TEN stars, I would!

    3. Did you PR?

Fast fun and hard on those downhills.

      Trained better.

    2. Describe your race day.

Having driven and once run down the canyon, I looked forward to see these vistas unfold as the race started. It was indeed great to see the light effects of the rising sun.

    3. Did you PR?

Yes for the 13.1 with 4 min

    4. How would you describe the course?

Beautiful. I shifted more to trail runs, but wanted to run this race again because of the scenery. The most beautiful street run I did (again). My eyes love it, my joints survived well, my muscles remind me that the downhill course uses different groups compared to my typical runs.

    5. Tell us about your training.

I just run to work on with my dogs. No specific training.

    6. What advice would you give future runners?

    2. Describe your race day.

I left this as a Facebook message and I copied and pasted here: one event ruined the experience for me.

I had an unsettling and disturbing incident today. I was at mile 24.5 and a driver in a vehicle decided to take his ire and frustration out on me.

He yelled at me telling me that this race had better be for charity because it was making him four hours late.

      I did not answer him.

But I did take out my phone to take his picture. He then said " why don't you video this" and he flipped me off

So, I told a police officer that this driver was harassing me.

Later-after the police man told me he'd take care of it,
The drive me caught up with me and started mocking me by moving his arms In an exaggerated running motion.

I chose to ignore the guy this time. I saw his car later but never looked over to him.

This was frustrating on three levels.

      1. The driver of course. He chose to take his frustration on me because, I believe, I happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time.

      2. The police officer was unable to assist me in any real protection.

      3. We are running exposed in the middle of the road for the last three miles. This situation could have easily become more heated. I don't like the course the last three miles and feel it's a genuine safety concern.

I was threatened. I was mocked. I was criticized because of your decision to have the course where it was the last three miles.

The experience ruined the marathon for me and I still feel disturbed seven hours later.
I should not have to defend why I run during a race to a passing motorist. I should not be subjected to yelling, mocking and flipping off during a race when I am running in the designated area.

And, I should be subjected to defending your decision of the course to frustrated motorists.

    3. Did you PR?

No. Pt is 3:41. I heavily prepared for this race but did not have it today.

    4. How would you describe the course?

I enjoyed the downhill and prepared for it. The last the miles were concerning ( see above).

    5. Tell us about your training.

Ran four 20 milers in last three months. Ran 10 training runs of 13 miles.

Even ran two 13.1 races down big cottonwood. One in 1:34 and one in 1:30 ( 6:54 pace per mile). But I have not figured out the marathon distance yet.

I think I would have ran even more miles in preparation.

    6. What fun things did you do in the area before or after the race?

After race I went home disturbed. See above. I still feel disturbed over 12 hours later.

    2. Describe your race day.

Had a great bus ride to start the day and even better is how much I enjoy the expo and logistics of this race. One of the most memorable things was the starting line. Having to use a lane of the road and run up the road 2 tenths of a mile and then turn and run down was horrible. It was so so crowded that I couldn't even move or even pass people. I was almost walking through that section. That first half mile was really tough to start so slow and have to make up time from the beginning.

    3. Did you PR?

I was on pace to PR. My PR is 1:38 and after 10 miles I was on pace to finish at 1:36. But then the hill out of the canyon killed me and I was lucky to finish. I ended with a 1:42, and yes still a pretty good time but with that long hill it was such a let down. I wish this race started up the canyon further so we could get more canyons miles.

    4. How would you describe the course?

The start was horrible. The first half mile was a joke and I hope the race never does that again. In my 5 years running this race I have never had the start be so horrible with the crowds. The canyon was great, it always is but the last 3.5 mikes out of the canyon was a killer this year. I truly wish we could start further up the canyon and do a lot less miles out of the canyon.

    5. Tell us about your training.

Training went welll. I did run the canyon 3 times while training and did 14 miles in the canyon starting from the silver lake parking lot. I would tell others to run lots of miles and then at the end run uphill to prep your legs.

    6. What advice would you give future runners?

Just enjoy the canyon. It is the best.

    7. What fun things did you do in the area before or after the race?

Nothing. I almost passed out for the first time in 5 years. I spent my time after the race trying to rehydrate and waiting in a huge line for a message. I wish I would have felt good enough to use my bib tags.
