    2. Describe your race day.

This is race is the BEST! Race day began with jitters and excitement! It was so fun seeing everyone getting ready to run! This was my first marathon ever and I was so impressed with how prepared the staff and crew were for the race. The gloves and blanket given in our packages were needed as I was waiting to run! The canyon and the scenery were absolutely beautiful and refreshing as I was running :) I LOVED this race and I felt like a million bucks crossing the finishing line! The after party/events was fun and my family enjoyed cheering on me and everyone else there! THANK YOU REVEL!

    3. Did you PR?

Because this was my very first race, I didn't really have a goal time set. But in the end I wanted to finish the race in 2 hours and 30 mins. I completed my time in 2 hrs and 14 mins, which is an awesome time for me! I was actually surprised by me time and couldn't be any happier!

    4. How would you describe the course?

The course was so clean and smooth! I loved the mountains and trees and how refreshing it smelled as I ran! The elevation wasn't too bad for me either.

    5. Tell us about your training.

Training was good for me! I did a 12 week training course and was given advice from a few family and friends who are runners about training. Mentally and emotionally I was in good shape and physically I felt great. Next time I would definitely incorporate more strength training to help my muscles more in the end:)

    6. What advice would you give future runners?

Anyone can do this race! I have learned to stay hydrated, have really good running shoes, and train the best you can:) THANK YOU REVEL for an awesome experience!

    7. What fun things did you do in the area before or after the race?

The night before the race my husband took me out for a lovely dinner! After the race my family enjoyed the rest of the events going on at the end and went out to celebrate afterwards! This was a big accomplishment for me! Bucket list checked :)

    2. Describe your race day.

Beautiful course. Amazing support even at the hotel we stayed at. I loved every second.

    3. Did you PR?

Yes, by 4 minutes - would have been more if I had trained for the downhill at altitude. Next time!

    4. How would you describe the course?

      Fast, fun and beautiful.

    5. Tell us about your training.

All my running was a sea level. No hill training or altitude training.

    6. What advice would you give future runners?

Make sure to bring warm clothes (layers) at the start, it was freezing!

    7. What fun things did you do in the area before or after the race?

Came in from San Diego, California. Didn't really do much before the race. After we attended the Tim McGraw concert that evening.

    2. Describe your race day.

Everything was perfect from the weather, the course, the volunteers and aid stations. I PR'd and also qualified for Boston. I couldn't have been more happy and more sore.

    3. Did you PR?

Yes, by 11 minutes. I also qualified for Boston.

    4. How would you describe the course?

The absolute best course I have run. The scenery is magnificent. I will be back next year.

    5. Tell us about your training.

I train hard for marathons. I h ave run 11 of them and run year-round. Thankfully I live in a place with hills and mountains. They helped prepare me for this downhill race.

    6. What advice would you give future runners?

      Work hard and enjoy it!

    7. What fun things did you do in the area before or after the race?

I love driving up Big Cottonwood Canyon. I love walking around Silver Lake. Of course we had to visit some of the local restaurants and my wife goes shopping. We traveled from Vernal, Utah.

    2. Describe your race day.

2 hours on a gorgeous, downhill course...nothing but music in my ears and amazing scenery, love this event!
Really enjoy starting in the dark & cooler temps then feeling it warm up on the way down...stars and moon were spectacular prior to start @ Tanner.

    3. Did you PR?

I believe this was a PR for me, I know it was more than 10-minutes ahead of my SLC half back in April.
But I don't do these so much for time as for the event and the course...both here are top notch IMHO.

    4. How would you describe the course?

Gentle downhill with some level areas...surrounded by granite cliffs & trees beginning to change to fall colors, all back lit by rising sun.
After driving this canyon for years to ski, bike, hike, etc...it's so cool to have it basically all to yourself. And hundreds of your closest friends!

    5. Tell us about your training.

Ashamed to say not much. More of a jogger than a "runner", I usually only have time for 1 morning a week, Sat or Sun, usually about 6 miles. Then 2 or 3 times on machines @ gym.

    6. What advice would you give future runners?

Pace yourself, esp the first 2-3 miles...and depending how you handle the cold, layers.
It's pretty chilly to start (upper 40's low 50's ?) but it warms up fast. If you can go light to start you'll be glad by mile 4-5.

    7. What fun things did you do in the area before or after the race?

All the way from Murray, Utah! (We live like 3-miles from the finish line)

    2. Describe your race day.

A little nervous at beggining of race. This was my first half marathon . Once it started it was just amazing. The view was beautiful all the runners supporting on everyone. One word AMAZING

    3. Did you PR?

      No I did not.

    4. How would you describe the course?

The course was just plain beautiful. Lots of green, waterfalls.

    5. Tell us about your training.

I definately not train well. I would definately train better next time. My advice would be to train better.

    6. What advice would you give future runners?

Wear double socks or something, i ended up getting blisters like on mile 10 and it made it a little difficult towards the end.

    7. What fun things did you do in the area before or after the race?

I did after, went to Temple Squares. I drove from Phoenix AZ

    2. Describe your race day.

Love the course. Weather couldn't have been better. Great finish line goodies!

    3. Did you PR?

No, Nebo 1/2 is still my PR, but this was pretty close, about a two minute difference.

    4. How would you describe the course?

I loved the gradual downhill. Not too steep, my calves were fine during and after the race which is nice. The leaves are starting to turn colors and it was beautiful!

    5. Tell us about your training.

I stay trained for half marathons all year long.

    6. What advice would you give future runners?

Try not to over-stress it. Do your best and enjoy it. I've made some awesome running friends over the years. Always have a good pair of shoes, and socks are just as important to me. On a down hill race like this, I also like to Vaseline my feet, so as not to wear any bilsters.

    7. What fun things did you do in the area before or after the race?

Nothing really. Came from Spanish Fork.

    2. Describe your race day.

It was my second half-marathon. I liked it a lot. Well organized.

    3. Did you PR?

Yes, I was 10 minutes faster:)

    4. How would you describe the course?

It was easy to run downhill. It was way harder to go through the city part. Felt like I was running on send.

    5. Tell us about your training.

No training. I participate in this events for fun.

    6. What advice would you give future runners?

Have fun with it. Don't stress, just you and the road.

    2. Describe your race day.

Arriving to the start line was dark, and cold. Spirits were high, and I don't think I heard anyone complain about the chilly mountain air, as we were all huddled together with the foil emergency blankets provided by race sponsors. The course was incredible, with the most breathtakingly beautiful view, plenty of aid stations, and happy volunteers ready to high-five you with a cup of Gatorade in hand!

    3. Did you PR?

I hit a new PR of 1:51:06! Not BQ, but there was a time I never thought it possible to get a sub 2:00 time, which I did, barely, three years ago, then beat that by eight minutes at Revel BC!

    4. How would you describe the course?

Breathtaking views, manageable grade for the most part, (a few points I had to slow myself down so I wouldn't fall), and it was nice that it got easier and easier to breathe as we descended into the valley.

    5. Tell us about your training.

I've been training consistently for almost a year, but my hill/mountain training should have been more of a focus. Even running as frequently as I do, not being accustomed to that much of a decline hammered my body, and I'm still having ibuprofen for breakfast two days later ;)

    6. What advice would you give future runners?

Train for the terrain you're going to be racing! Bring a disposable sweatshirt (one you can toss when you warm up), don't eat crap the day before, or race day. Remember how much running speeds tour digestive gears when you're choosing your pre-race fuel!

    7. What fun things did you do in the area before or after the race?

I live in the area, so not much. But had I traveled here, I would have spent a day in Park City, going down the Alpine Slide, then some mild hiking on one of the many trails there, and shopped on Main Street, concluded by a summer concert at Deer Valley Resort!

    2. Describe your race day.

Love this race! Race directing is right on with number of potties, aid station management, after race recovery, awesome shirt, etc.
The only thing this year that was weird, there was NO gun, or music, or person on a mega-phone for starting. Runners were still sitting on the ground up by the potties when people started running. The count-down or announcer type person is such a good idea.

    3. Did you PR?

      No, but I didn't expect to. :)

    4. How would you describe the course?

LOVE the canyon...it's my fake trail running. (haha)

    5. Tell us about your training.

I usually run approx. 20-30 miles/week and a handful of Half marathons a year. I need to remember to train on downhill prior.

    6. What advice would you give future runners?

downhill training is a must for better recovery
be early, don't plan on the last bus

    7. What fun things did you do in the area before or after the race?

talked with friends, but nothing really

    2. Describe your race day.

It was my first Big Cottonwood Half, and I have to say it was very well done. I have run over 65 haves and was very impressed by the expo and the transportation. The canyon was beautiful and the aid stations and water stops were awesome. You put on a great race!!!

    3. Did you PR?

no, I got sick at mile 6 and 9 and had to use the porta potties:(

    4. How would you describe the course?

Beautiful!!!! I grew up in SLC and have always loved Big Cottonwood Canyon summer and winter.

    5. Tell us about your training.

I try to run a half marathon every other month, so my training is just kind of the same all the time. I just make sure I get an 11 miler in 2 Weeks before the race. I usually run between 15-20 miles a week.

    6. What advice would you give future runners?

Plan on having sore legs for a few days after. Roll and I swim after to relieve the pain.

    7. What fun things did you do in the area before or after the race?

I stayed at my daughters and enjoyed eating and hanging out in SLC.
