    1. Overall Rating

      4/5 Stars

    2. Describe your race day.

Catching the 3:15 pacer about midway down the canyon and not being passed by him again.
Parking and space at marathon start was pretty crowded.

    3. Did you PR?

Yes. Went about 3 1/2 minutes under fastest time.
      Qualified for Boston.

    4. How would you describe the course?

Great. A bit steep at the upper Guardsman Pass section. The parts between Brighton and the S curve were ideal for stretching out your legs. Not too steep.

    5. Tell us about your training.

Tried to limit fats and carbs in diet. Did more hill and trail work, and ran the canyons a few times (both Big and Little Cottonwood) to acclimate to the downhill.
Used a few other Spring marathons to build up stamina.

    6. What advice would you give future runners?

Run the canyons a few times (both Big and Little Cottonwood) to acclimate to the downhill. Do both uphill and downhill.

    7. What fun things did you do in the area before or after the race?

Massage. Live locally, so not anything specific.

    2. Describe your race day.

I don't consider myself a "downhill" runner and was a little nervous before the race star, so ran pretty conservativet. I absolutely LOVED the small things about this race; gloves and mylar blankets at the start, ice cold wash clothes and water at the finish. Very special touches!! Oh, I liked the results cards, too!

    3. Did you PR?

I did not - and definitely wasn't trying. It would have been nice to get another BQ, but I was a few minutes off.

    4. How would you describe the course?

That is some crazy downhill elevation! Beautiful scenery until the last out and back for the full. Once I turned, the course wasn't very pretty anymore. I most especially did not like the last few miles with heavy traffic on either side of me. Nice finish area, though. Easy to maneuver through and find friends and checked gear.

    5. Tell us about your training.

I'm a Marathon Maniac and run often and far. I did have a hip flexor injury this past spring that had me going a little slower than normal the past few races. Slowly getting some speed back. This was my fastest marathon in the past 6 months and I'm happy to report that my quads are feeling good.

    6. What advice would you give future runners?

Trust in the training. Don't go out too fast. Eat/drink before you feel the urge.

    7. What fun things did you do in the area before or after the race?

I went to In-N-Out Burger (they aren't located in WA). Yep, that was it. I was in SLC for approximately 25 hours to run the race before flying back to Seattle.

I absolutely love love this race! Amazing course and beautiful scenery! I got to run it this year with my 3 amazing running friends. It was also my 15th half marathon completed since I began running 4 years ago! Have ran this race 3 years in a row and will continue to in years to come! Thanks!

    3. Did you PR?

      No I tried dang it!

Perfect love the downhill. Amazing scenery

    2. Describe your race day.

Perfect weather! This race was so we'll organized. I was pleasantly surprised by how smoothly everything went all day. I loved the towels dipped in ice water. What a great surprise those were! The popsicles were awesome too. Definitely my favorite 1/2 so far.

    3. Did you PR?

Yes, beat my old time by 10 minutes!

    4. How would you describe the course?

The course is beautiful, though those last 3 city miles did me in, even though they were still downhill

      Beautiful course!

    3. Did you PR?

      no

    4. How would you describe the course?

ok. Didn't like the out and back. Water stations were off. Didn't like dodging the half marathoners. The half marathoners took all the chocolate milk so those who ran the full didn't get any.

    5. Tell us about your training.

I run many races and run consistently.

    6. What advice would you give future runners?

      Train for the downhill

    7. What fun things did you do in the area before or after the race?

      From Utah

Plan better for water stations. Go back to the course that ended at Cottonwood High School. Save food for the marathoners.

    2. Describe your race day.

Great race day, could have had more space in the finish area.

    3. Did you PR?

I didn't, but the person I was running with did.

    4. How would you describe the course?

      Great course, definitely fast.

    5. Tell us about your training.

Based on how my back feels I should have run more down hills

    6. What advice would you give future runners?

Bring enough to stay warm at the start.

    7. What fun things did you do in the area before or after the race?

Not much, just came down and ran then when home.

    2. Describe your race day.

The canyon part of the marathon was amazing! The highway running was horrible! This is the only reason I didn't give this race 5 stars. The organization and the volunteers were all awesome.

    3. Did you PR?

No I was on pace to PR by 12 minutes until the out and back on the highway....

    4. How would you describe the course?

Canyon amazing! The course up to mile 18 is probably one of my favorites. After that not so much.

    5. Tell us about your training.

I actually live in Maryland, at sea level, so I tried to do some trail running in the mountains to prepare. I was tough because we have "hills" not mountains. My advise is to train with down hill and train your quads and calves.

    6. What advice would you give future runners?

If you are from the east coast arrive several days early to get used to the time change and the elevation.

    7. What fun things did you do in the area before or after the race?

Hiking in the canyon was fun. It's so beautiful. I traveled from Maryland. Overall I had a wonderful time. If I did this race again I would stick to the half.

      it was awesome

    3. Did you PR?

      yes - i dit

    4. How would you describe the course?

its fine - and this is BQ race and there are critical segments which the runners could have skipped and i have confirmation from my friends that a few of the full marathon runners skipped certain segments - e.g. - between miles 18 to 23 there is no scanner to monitor if runners are completing that section

and similarly there is no scanner between miles 3 and 4.5 loop - again which the runners could have easily skipped - net net by running around 20 miles - they could have easily skipped 6 miles and get BQ easily - i don't think this is a good idea
