    2. Describe your race day.

Great day. It was cold and the start line, but manageable. The start happened right on time, and we were off down the beautiful canyon! The miles flew by, and finish line was a welcome sight.

    3. Did you PR?

Oh yes. I came in wanted to just dip under 1:17:59 - which would have been a PR over my last best: 1:19:42. I came in at a surprising 1:12:49. A HUGE PR, and a very welcome surprise.

    4. How would you describe the course?

      Beautiful, welcoming, and very fast!

    5. Tell us about your training.

Trained had for several months. I really wanted to PR, and knew this was the course to do it. I did lots of speed work, and long runs every weekend. I did lots of miles, and my long runs often took me well over 13 miles. I knew coming into the race I was ready for both my goal pace and that the distance was not going to be an issue. My advice is: train in a way so that you are excited to run the race and the course, and not nervous about whether or not you can even finish.

    6. What advice would you give future runners?

Running down hill is not as easy as you think, and it takes a lot of practice. Once you get it down and learn how to roll down hill without having to hold on the brakes you can really fly.

I bought cheap pieces of clothing that I could strip off during the race and discard. Gloves and arm warmers made out of long socks. Great idea.

Don't overdress - start the race feeling a little cold. You WILL warm up. Overdressing will make you get overheated and can really affect your performance.

    7. What fun things did you do in the area before or after the race?

I am from Lehi. I just woke up super early and drove myself. Nothing exciting to share here!

    2. Describe your race day.

Great race, well organized in the morning and great scenery. Horrible and I mean horrible disorganized effort ( no effort at all) to direct traffic after the race and get people out of the parking terrace and on their way. Took me an HOUR to get out of the parking lot and lots of people were mad and rude. Not the funniest way to end a fun race.

    3. Did you PR?

    2. Describe your race day.

This race was extremely well organized, from the check-in on Friday to the finish line festivities! It seems like they thought of everything, and everything was executed to perfection. I was constantly being surprised at how efficient everything was: getting my bag and number on Friday, parking on race morning, loading busses, having bathrooms available, mile markers and posters along the way, drinks and snacks, getting results, getting pictures, turning in and retrieving my bag, etc. etc. etc. The most memorable thing was the beautiful scenery while I ran, and the outstanding organization let me focus on that. What a great experience!

    3. Did you PR?

This was my first half marathon, so I did PR, but by default.

    4. How would you describe the course?

I LOVED the course! I'm from Utah, so I'm very familiar with Big Cottonwood Canyon and I've always loved it. But I've never enjoyed it while running, and seeing the sun hit the tops of the mountains and slowly move down was inspiring. We even saw some interesting wildlife (including a moose)! The grade was nice and made the run very enjoyable for me.

    5. Tell us about your training.

I basically run for fitness, and I run 4-5 miles a day, 4-6 times a week. My busy work schedule prevents me from being more consistent. I felt like this prepared me very well for the run, but I was not really pushing it for speed. For someone who wants a fast time, they would have to train more seriously than I did.

    6. What advice would you give future runners?

Be prepared to stay warm at the top before the race starts. Once the race started the temperature was perfect.

    7. What fun things did you do in the area before or after the race?

I live in Syracuse, UT so I didn't really have to travel for this race.

    2. Describe your race day.

The course is amazing and beautiful! The volunteers are wonderful and friendly. Special shout out to Lane for helping me with my timing. My timing chip malfunctioned, so it didn't register me crossing the finish line. Lane got the whole thing figured out for me!

    3. Did you PR?

Yes! I ran this race last year and came in at 3:09. This year 2:55!!! I broke 3 hours for my half!

    4. How would you describe the course?

      Fun, beautiful, downhill

    5. Tell us about your training.

I trained mostly on my treadmill, which has a decline function.

    6. What advice would you give future runners?

Make sure you train for downhill. Even with all the downhill training I did, I am still sore. Also, don't forget the hills flatten out after mile 10, so it gets really difficult for the last 5K, because your body is used to all the steep downhill. Also, don't underestimate how cold it is at the start. Make sure you use the mylar blanket and gloves Revel provides!

    7. What fun things did you do in the area before or after the race?

Not much. Just dinner. Spent a lot of time in my hotel room resting up for the big day! I traveled from Wisconsin.

    2. Describe your race day.

Always a great and well run race.

    3. Did you PR?

YES! I beat my time from last year by over 7 minutes.

    4. How would you describe the course?

Fun, fast, and killer on the legs!

    5. Tell us about your training.

You have to run outside, and get some downhill in for the race.... treadmill running doesn't work... not for this race.....

    6. What advice would you give future runners?

Be ready... it is a fun, fast, course.. but that downhill is VERY hard on your legs and knees.... if you are not ready for it, it becomes a problem very quickly..

    7. What fun things did you do in the area before or after the race?

      I live 10 minutes away....

Always training, usually complete a marathon a month .

    6. What advice would you give future runners?

Manage your pace going down hill

    2. Describe your race day.

It was awsome! Everything was good.

    3. Did you PR?

No unfortunately I didn't! Almost but by your calculation I didn't I was 2 minutes slower this year. But to my calculations via map my run on my iPhone I did PR by 8 minutes.

    4. How would you describe the course?

I loved the course, beautiful scenery, I plan to run this next year.

    5. Tell us about your training.

I would train more often then I did this year.

    6. What advice would you give future runners?

Wear sweats over your running clothes so you don't freeze while waiting to start your race and then put them in the drop bag. I did this this year and I was warmer than last year.

    7. What fun things did you do in the area before or after the race?

I live in the area so I actually went home.

I think this race should do what vacation races does and to keep things cleaner they should become a cup less race and provide the reusable pouches and then have coolers with Gatorade and water in them.

    2. Describe your race day.

It was a great race! Everything was well organized and running down the canyon was beautiful. It was so fun to run it with my sister and best friend after months of training and running together.

    3. Did you PR?

I ran my first half marathon two weeks ago, and was able to PR that time today. By 1:10. Not a huge difference, but I'll take what I can get.

    4. How would you describe the course?

Such a beautiful run, and the leaves were just starting to change colors. It was freezing up at the top, but felt well prepared with what I wore. It was just the right amount of downhill. Didn't feel like I was pounding the road, but was able to keep moving easily.

    5. Tell us about your training.

I started training back in May. I'd do 3 3-5 mile runs during the week, then do my long runs on Saturdays. I did build and decrease pattern with my long runs. I also did a downhill run every other week to prepare for the 13 miles of downhill. I don't think I would have started training as early. I was a little burned out by the end, but I definitely felt prepared.

    6. What advice would you give future runners?

I discovered toe caps for this race after getting blood blisters from my previous one. They saved me and I would suggest them for any downhill runs.

    7. What fun things did you do in the area before or after the race?

Took advantage of the taping booth at the packet pick up. That was super nice to have. After the race I visited all the food booths and enjoyed the food they were providing. The picture backdrops were also a lot of fun.
